Cthulhu: The Ancient One Tribute Box

Let's be honest. That's the only reason to buy this. The "book" barely qualifies as more than a pamphlet. It's the equivalent of an article off some pop-culture website proclaiming to explain this whole "Cthulhu" thing to the masses. It's about 45 "pages", but a lot of them are illustrations.... Including a meme taken from the internet, it appears. There is no original art in it, just pictures of other Cthulhu products and such. Nobody who is even passingly familiar with the subject will learn anything new or interesting from it.The star of the show is the statue. And it's good. Other than being too small (The original text suggests about 8 inches high, this is more like 4-5), it's fairly close to both the description in the book and the couple of drawings of the idol attributed to Lovecraft. It has the more conventional two-eye head, rather than the possibly more accurate six-eyed head, but beyond that, and the size, it's quite accurate. The sculpt is fantastic, and the paint job, while not anything special, gets the job done quite nicely. It's a heavy little thing, feeling like polystone resin.Absolutely well worth 15 dollars to a Lovecraft or Cthulhu fan, just for the statue... You can pay more for less, if you're looking for an idol of the Dreamer. and it comes with a free bit of kindling to start your sacred fire.

An absolute must-have for fans of H.P. Lovecraft's most memorable creation. Very detailed, solid and hefty. It's what you picture in your mind when you read "The Call of Cthulhu." The colors are great. Some of the photos on Amazon are rather blue-gray. Look at the photos posted in one of these reviews. They are much more accurate. This is by far the best representation available at this price!The book? Eh. It's an okay addition, along with the stand/backdrop, although he tends to blend in instead of standing out. Actually, Cthulhu looks a lot better against the red spine of Lovecraft's collected works (as sold here on Amazon.)Fans of Cthulhu... This is the one you've been waiting for. Wait no longer!

This collectible is awesome. A MUST for any Lovecraft or cosmic horror fan. Looks just like the small statue that was described in The Call of Cthulhu. Made from real heavy resin and very detailed. Mine looks fantastic on the mantel. I keep mine in the box as it in itself is a nice piece...very sturdy with a flap that opens to tell about the Ancient Dreamer.

I've been searching for a true-to-description Cthulhu idol from the story. This thing looks real and feels real. It is incredibly detailed and has a decent amount of weight to it! The box is great quality as well. You can throw away the booklet though as it's just a collection of random internet images and text of Cthulhu.

I purchased this statue-ette to use with my "Cthulhu: Xothic Wars" 28mm miniatures game. It works perfectly got that being about 4 inches in height. Makes a great centerpiece for that and other miniature games I own.The box it came it does work as show, but is ill fitting and lacks a clear insert. So toss the front of the box, and just keep the alter inset to display it if you want. Make sure the booklet remains in the back though to give it a rigid structure.The booklet on the other hand feels like fan service written by a hipster fan or a random employee of the publisher. Its depth felt like someone googled Cthulhu and copy and pasted together a booklet. It covers the basic things people probably already know about the Cthulhu Mythos. It also covers some of the more well known games and so forth. So I did not personally find a lot of value in that, and the publishers constant comment of "you can even worship it" on the back of the box and in the booklet made it a little akward. But hey... why not worship a giant Alien being that lives to eat everyone around you - and saves you for last.Between the average ill fitting packaging, and the lackluster book I can only offer 4 stars.

When I took the package out of the shipping box, I was extremely impressed. The box of the Tribute Set was of heavy cardboard and the figure was visible through the front cutout. It was all so sturdy and well put together, I almost didn't want to take the figure book/stand out. In fact, I just ordered two more so I won't have to.The figure itself is solid and bigger than I expected. There many similar Cthulhu idols on the market, and few if any are as good for this price point. It comes with a cardboard stand with the book slipped into the back of the stand.I'm guessing that no one really caress about the book itself, and after looking at it, I still don't. It's really just a brief summary of what Cthulhu is and a bunch of pictures of the character and some products associated with him.In all, I love this item, and I'm buying a couple more just to have. At this price, why not?

This statue has serious weight to it! I was expecting a resin, hollow (but nice looking) figure, but this is far beyond what I thought it would be! It's really nice in person, and the little booklet stores in the stand. Super happy with this purchase.

Cthulhu: The Ancient One Tribute Box es un muy buen producto, la estatuilla esta muy bien modelada y pintada, la representación de Cthulhu es muy interesante, no es el típico cuerpo mastodóntico, tiene un diseño más atlético e inclusive su rostro es mas humanoide que en la mayoría de las imágenes a las que estamos acostumbrados. El librillo es una pequeñísima guía sobre la entidad y su aparición en la cultura.Una compra recomendada.Aviso sobre el envío, esta la compre a Amazon Export Sales LLC, y llego en un bolsa de papel grueso, teniendo en cuenta el producto hubiese esperado por una caja, y eso se vio reflejado en el plástico protector que venia roto, por suerte la figura no fue lastimada, pero para alguien que la quisiera tener en su empaque original y sellado sería una verdadera molestia.

Got this as a gift for my friend. He loved it. 10/10 would buy again.

La statuetta riprende esattamente il concept che voleva dargli lo scrittore, H.P. Lovecraft! All'interno del piccolo libricino possiamo anche trovare un'immagine dello stesso concept, che ci dà l'idea di quanta premura sia stata messa nel creare questo articolo secondo certi canoni. Per essere una piccola figure, i dettagli sono molto belli e da non sottovalutare.Regalata ad un mio amico per il suo compleanno e ne è rimasto veramente sorpreso e compiaciuto.
