All thes little, important things you knew but not why
I'm Finnish, speaker, and wery hard sculled for learning english. Large selection of phrases and expressions, whose are used everydays speaking, were hard to learn because I can't understand how these are produced. One example is that -ing suffix. In one case it's continious verb, that I was knewing. Now I can understand that gerundi methods too. Verb can represent like noun when it's uset in its gerundi form. Wery confusing if you don't know that. I was trying learn grammar and practice with several websites, thank for their masters, but when I need doublecheck somethings, I can't find them again. I know these bookmarks, I have done very much notes, but so much work for so less result. This book there're all or almost all in one cover. My skill is progressed level, when I can understand almost every word in this book because its clear and understable style. Problems causes term of grammar because I don't know them in my own language too. Oh boy, try learn some Finnish grammar websites. These are thikness some non Finnish terms and some word in Finnish for binding. In this book everything is clear English. As I said, I have hard scull but weak ears too. I need everything seeing wrote out. It's very hard to me learn through listening. This book contains quiz for frequent intervals too. These exercises tell me when I was suceed and give me some happines. My journey with this book is just bekingin, I almost can't to wait.

Excellent English Grammar Book
At last! So many grammar resources that you find online (and even on bookshelves) cater towards minor grammatical quibbles – “your” vs. “you’re,” “who” vs. “whom” and so on – without addressing the fundamental structural rules of the language. I’m happy to find that the Complete English Grammar Rules by Farlex is exactly what it says: the complete English grammar rules. Communicating with others is a big part of what I do for a living, so I always need to be sure that what I write and edit are as grammatically correct as possible. The amount of detail that this guide provides is actually staggering, and for any topic I’m uncertain about I am always able to find thorough explanations and helpful examples. While it does include some of the commonly confused terms and expressions, there aren’t a huge amount – it really is meant more for those who want to learn about the actual structure of the language, and how to write and speak correctly. One thing I especially appreciated was the explanations of outdated rules compared to accepted modern usage. The book always outlines what is or was commonly thought of as “correct” or “proper” that has now become uncommon in day-to-day English, showing clear examples of both. An indispensable resource for those who write for a living!

The Good Book
The author(s) of this book have written a very good book on the subject in question. The information provided is straightforward and exhaustive (complete). I have purchased many books on English grammar and is usage, but all of them provide asymmetrical information. For instance, verb aspect in most English grammar books only superficially mention the subject, if the subject is even mention it at all. This is not like most other English grammar books. Complete information and tests at the end of each chapter, tests which help to fortify the learning process, are provided. I have grown intellectually from my reading this good book.

Comprehensive & basic
Pros: This guide covers a fairly comprehensive range of grammatical concepts and rules. Easy to read. Recommended for intermediate students of grammar. Cons: The explanations are very basic, i.e. they touch on certain essential concepts and offer straightforward samples, but they are rather brief and shallow. There are only a handful of practice questions at the end of each section -- some of the questions are more 'theoretical' than practical and may be not too helpful for those who are looking for instructive grammar exercises. (For this reason, I think the word 'Exercises' in the title is a bit misleading.) There are some typos/careless mistakes in the text that the editors should have spotted. Granted, it's a 519-page book, but it's also a grammar book... Conclusion: Good old grammar books like Advanced Grammar in Use (Cambridge) may be more helpful for those who are looking for a 'grammar drill' -- even if the book looks/feels like a text for school students, the exercises are much more detailed and efficient. For working professionals who want to brush up their grammar/writing, I'd recommend Grammatically Correct: The Essential Guide to Spelling, Style, Usage, Grammar, and Punctuation by Anne Stilman.

I'll Admit it: I'm a Grammar Nerd
Most Americans take English for granted. We are conditioned to believe we and our language are superior. To prove this, we don't teach our kids Spanish, French, or Japanese. No, we're too good for that. We'll just let the whole world teach their kids English, so we'll be more comfortable if we ever visit. Despite our arrogance, English is nonetheless a fascinating language with subtlety and nuances unavailable is most languages. It is truly beautiful when those subtleties and nuances are properly utilized. But you still hear people say things like "I laughed good at his joke." Granted, most people don't find grammar and punctuation as exciting as I do; heck, I read grammar books for pleasure. When people see me reading grammar and punctuation guides, they always ask "You taking a class?" No. I just find the topic captivating. So I'm a grammar nerd, and this is a fine example of a grammar guide. So, for all you fellow grammar nerds out there (you are out there, right?), this one is highly recommended.

Authoritative, yet a good read!
Love it, love it, love it! This is the grammar book I've spent years trying to find: an authoritative reference that can be comfortably read cover-to-cover. I'm currently reading this book cover-to-cover and doing all the quizzes. The only apparent omission I've noticed so far is a discussion of the use of the nominative case following a linking verb ("It is I" vs. "It is me"). The authors seem to be unaware of this issue, apparently not even bothering to pay it lip service. I've noticed one example so far in the book where they use the objective case instead of the nominative. Perhaps the authors are trying to reflect the way real people talk instead of what they consider an outmoded rule. But if that's the case, they ought to at least spell this out and explain what they're doing, and why they've adopted their position.

This is my new best friend! Seriously...
I just purchased the book today 05/08/2019 but I feel it will be a timeless reading because I need all the help I can get! I can tell you that they have the best website in the world for rabbit hole jumpers like me :) Check it out because you will not be disappointed. I purchased this book today because I plan on attempting some writing and I failed freshman English. Lets just say it was not my favorite subject but with the help from the website and this book I know I will be able to accomplish my goal of sharing my personal journey with others that need help through their Dark Knight of the Soul... Ugh... I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! (I think) I was attempting to stay organized during all of my research but I had one million browser tabs saved and it was still a wreck until I was guided to their website. Now I can store everything organized conveniently in one place with references to all of their sources. Where was this during nursing school! This is such a time saver and I highly recommend it! Thank you!
