America is now currently engaged in a dual Cold War with Neo-Soviet Russia, and Communist Red China, this well written book lays out the detailed groundwork for Neo-Soviet Russian Czarist/President Valdmir Putin's quest to rip apart the strategic Alliance of NATO in order to retake the nation's of Europe that was once under the thumb of Russia in order to bring about a new Soviet Empire under his rule.I highly highly recommend this book for those who still cling to Americanism and the Reagan military doctrine of peace through strength as study guide understanding the mind set our nation's old but not so old adversarie.

This is a god read. Doug Schoen is an experienced, is a master of all things political. His insight isapparent in this book. If you wan to know what makes Putin click, this is a must read.

I'm not an excellent reviewer but this book lays out Putin's plan in a clear and concise way. I learned about new and important facts I otherwise wouldn't have discovered if it weren't for this book. Learning about Putin's political puppits in far left and far right populist parties across Europe really proves that Putin is aimed to destroy the EU and NATO. Obviously his invasion of Georgia and Ukraine are proof of Putin's tsarist like ambitions to expand the Russian empire. Putin also wants to increase the dependancy other countries have on Russian oil. With that said, I think if more people read this book, there would be far less disinformation and outright Russian propaganda permeating in American political discourse.

It is strange to be reading this when so much of this actually occurring in our lives right now. I wish every person would read it, so that they would understand what we are dealing with. I'm sure though that the pro-Putin Trump people would not believe what it says. - they would believe it is political. It so strange that they believe the lies, but deny the truth. I guess this is similar to what happened in Nazi Germany

Terrific insights into what we are experiencing today globally and at the Trump White House at this very time. Makes what is happening today crystal clear!

The central thesis is sound, but this could be a 25 pages paper with succinct support points. Rather we are dragged through highly repetitive verbiage. Skimming helps.

If you aren't already convinced that Russia is a huge threat to civilization this book might nudge you in that direction but its mix of solid facts, paranoia, and sanctification of dubious forces and individuals (anyone who is against Russia gets a pass for corruption and crime) probably won't completely convince you. It's a well written book but it's critique of Russia comes from a viewpoint that feeds Russia's ugliest nationalism by refusing Russia any role other than passive victim and cheerleader for America. It's valid points (Russia should keep its hands off of the culturally distinct Baltic countries) are weakened by its uncritical defense of corrupt leaders in places like Ukraine and Georgia.
