Gotta Love this Guy...
I know will.most lokely.come off a little weird but I owe this first. I read a bunch of Dylan's books and enjoyed them. This is the weird..I do not know why I even started reading his books. I'm usually more of a soft sci-fantasy or spys and killing or detective books. I found book one (of Dylan's something) on bookbub and ended up buying the series. I don't know but I do know this. I will continue reading Dylan's books

Huh?
I found this prequel confusing. I expected it to show us the back story for the series end game but found it did not align with the earlier story and what we understood about Therons parents. If they were monster hunters this book mde them as bad or worse than the monsters they hunted. Sorry it just didn't work for me.

Seat belts must remain fastened at all times
Have you ever gotten lost in a fantasy so dark and deep you feel as if you may not find your way out? Having never read Dylan Doose before, all I can say is if this is how he writes, next time, please point out the exit signs and replace the lights. It isn’t horror, it’s dark fantasy: very well developed fantasy is one of the reasons Doose has such a loyal following. The lyrical language belies the violence and keeps you reading until the end. Recommended 4/5[disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it]

Dark world with many shades of good vs. evil
Doose's Sword and Sorcery world is a violent, chaotic, dark world where good and innocence are fading away. The void is filled with evil and a predatory violence. The poetry is sometimes beautiful, and the plots have many twists. The world is well developed with numerous levels and circles. The characters are as complicated as any real person. If it were a movie it might be NC-17. Could use better editing.I was given an ARC from the author for an honest and unbiased review.

Fantasy, horror, gore and creatures of all kinds!
While reading this book, I realized I enjoyed reading it but the gore level was a little high. I guess I expected more of a fantasy story than a horror story. Still it was an interesting prequel to the other stories written before. I was given an ARC copy to read and review.

This is a very dark fantasy novel!
This is a dark fantasy novel that is well written and full of dark magic. The characters are well defined and all have different levels of darkness in them. They combine as a whole into a very different world.

The Apocolypse meets House of 1000 Corpses
I really do love a good adventure story, and there was plenty of adventure between the pages of gore. I really tried to read the series - I am amazed I made it from book 1 through book 6, but I will not be purchasing the remainder of the series no matter how much I would like to root for some characters I actually kind of liked.I had to say enough is enough when I started skimming pages of battles that simply became a competition to see how disgusting a battle with puss-filled maggoty corpses/monsters could be described. Once I realized I was skipping more than I was reading it was apparent that the purchase is not worth the "ick" for me.I know there are several series of this type I am not knocking them. I am just not the right reader for this series and there are other who, reading the book descriptions, are going to expect what I did - a fantasy series set in a magical world. Not a gore-fest.

Absolutely loving this series. The character building and amazing plot twists with all its dark points are fantastic. I am totally hooked and hate that i have to wait for book 7
