Madeira Tour and Trail Super Durable Map 10th edition

I used this for two weeks of walking and hiking in Madeiras mountains. It survived some punishing use as I would often fold and screw it up into my pockets and rucksack. No tears at the end. Not sure about rainproof as it didn’t get wet much at all. I liked the additional interest information supplied and in February 2023 it was still current and up to date for the areas I visited. Popular levada walks are clearly shown.

Excellent that you can't rip it or get it wet so very durable but a bit awkward trying to fold it when you're navigating in the car for your driver and the route in the map doesn't warn you about the one way systems in operation particularly in Funchal and how you have to go in the opposite direction to where you're headed and turn round to come back

Useful map when used with a Discovery Walking Guide book. It is only 1:40,000 scale however - I'd like a 1:25,000 but these are difficult to get hold of for Madeira (produced by the Portuguese Military I understand and in short supply)

The map is in an OS style showing everything you need for hiking in Madeira . It works extremely well with the hiking guide books from the same company. Excellent levels of detail but on a map that is not so big that its hard to use in the world and is made from a paper that feels very durable.We used a differnt version for a weeks hiking in Tenerife and it was ideal. You could manage with just the books which include detailed maps but this really helped planning a tour working out the best combination of hikes, beaches, restaurants and accommodation for a three week trip.

What a great map for both planning walks and for taking with you on the day, being quite a heavy duty, yet pliable and, allegedly waterproof. Thankfully we didn’t have to put that to the test!

Used during a 7 day trek across Madeira. The map is generally accurate but doesn't show all paths thus I needed to augment with GPS maps from other sources

This is a really well drawn map and proved very useful for route planning when cycling in Madeira. The contours and spot heights are well presented and the map is very durable

IT was worth buying the durable map - it was used constantly and remained pristine. I'm unsure as to how up-to-date it was: we used it earlier this year and there were a number of inconsistencies. To be fair, Madeira is constantly changing so keeping up with the roads and everything else must be a major challenge.

This map is just what it says on the tin. I've also had previous versions, and would unhesitatingly recommend any visitor to Madeira who intends to go off the beaten track to buy the latest edition.

This map has all the roads of the island as well as many of the hiking trails on the island. The shortcoming of the map is that there are many trails which are shown by a dashed line but not labelled. So If you are looking for a specific trail that isn't very popular you might not see it labeled. But with the help of google maps or AllTrails, this map is useful. It has topographic isolines. What's good about it is you only need one paper map
