High Torque Quartz Clock Movement, for up to 1/4" Thick Dials, Powers up to 17 1/2" Hands

I have a huge clock. The face is 24" across. The second hand is 18" and the hour hand is around 10". I purchased a different brand movement, that failed after 1 week. So based on the reviews I decided to try this. It is made in the US!When I got it, I though it wouldn't work. It is so light weight and only takes one battery, that I was sure it would end up returned or in the trash. Installed it and I was amazed that little movement was moving the clock hands and keeping the correct time.The one thing I would note is the instructions were not that clear. I put the hour hand on, no problem, but then forced the second hand on past where it should have went. I was able to remove the second hand and gently put it on, where it was suppose to go, I was pretty sure that I had ruined it, but I didn't. I don't know if there is a You Tube video with instructions, but if not there should be.I just put the movement on Sept 2018, I will update, if it stops working.

I have a clock with 17" hands that I bought a few years ago for about $100. I like the clock, but recently the minute hand started falling off. If I had to guess, the stem broke. You could stick it back in and it would work, but after a few days would fall off again.Initially I thought I would have to replace the clock. Then I realized that really all I really needed was a new movement. The rest of the clock was fine.Got this one today, installed it in about 10 minutes. Essentially you just insert the stem through the hole from the back of the clock and secure it with the supplied nut. The old clock hands fit the new stem perfectly, and voila. For $12 and change, not $100, I have a fully functional clock again.I notice that some reviewers say their movement died after a relatively short time. I certainly hope that doesn't happen here. In the meantime I'm giving it 5 stars.UPDATE: Clock movement is still workimg fine after more than 2 years. This deserves the 5 stars I gave it. Thumbs up.Update2: Still working problem free after 3 years!

Used this to replace a clock mechanism that also broke. Used with 15" hands and it only lasted a few weeks.

This mechanism is just what you want if you have a clock with long hands. We have owned the Howard Miller Grand Americana Wall Clock for about 14 yrs. The hands are about 14-15 inches long. This is the best replacement mechanism we have found! The key is "High Torque". If you have a clock with long hands, you need the extra strength a high torque mechanism has. I searched for weeks trying to find a clock movement that would fit my 30 inch diameter wall clock. I have had the clock for over 15 years and didn't want to part with it. I am very happy with the results and my clock is keeping perfect time.

Brilliant, worked perfectly with my 9” and 12” long 1” wide thin metal hands. I had tried 2 other mechanisms before this to no avail. This one just works.

When the movement in our 24-inch diameter wall clock started acting erratically, I decided to replace the obviously under-powered standard movement with a high torque movement. This is the same physical size as the old movement and fit the clock perfectly! Note the tip in the Amazon description to check the oval hole in the minute hand of your existing clock before ordering. The movement came well packaged and with a complete set of hardware. It also included a set of instructions with a drawing. It took less than 10 minutes to remove the old movement, install this new movement, add the battery, and put the clock back on the wall.

This is a well calibrated quartz movement. Night and day compared to Chinese makes. I machine custom brass hands for the clocks I make, and this movement kept perfect time despite their weight. Purchases 2 more after installing first.
