There are a few criticising the noise this fan makes but there are a few things to consider when it comes to fan noise. Quiet fans are doing nothing. The noisier the fan the quicker the blades are turning and therefore the more air that's being moved. You can't have one without the other. Additionally, the bigger the fan blades the more air it will shift at lower (quiet) speeds.However, cheap fans that rattle or have noisy motors definitely do add unwanted noise to the proceedings. Fortunately this little fan is well built and has a quiet motor so the only sound you hear is the sound of the fan blades slicing through the air (which makes a relaxing whooshing noise).Do bear in mind that this is a relatively small fan and that if a quiet fan is the name of the game then you want the bigger the better. There are two settings. Position one is low speed for bedroom use at night or if the fan is fairly close to you on a coffee table etc. Position two is full speed and this is noisier but not too noisy. On a sweltering hot day you'll not care about the extra noise!For me this fan hits the sweet spot for practicality, looks, performance and low noise.

It fits perfectly on my bedside table and the noise level is low enough to not disturb my sleep. Very happy with the purchase!

This was my favourite fan I have ever owned.That is why it has three stars instead of one. I normally give only one star when something stops working in less than a year, but I loved this can So much, I will probably buy another of the same make and hope it lasts longer.If the fan is working properly, it has two speeds and quite good airflow. I was never able to sleep with it on high or with it pointed directly at me. I would point at a wall and let the air blow back into me, and the dog, because truth be told, I bought this more for the dog than for myself.It is loud. Anything that blows that much air is going to make noise. But it was a continual whirring sound which I quite liked as white noise.It worked fine when I put it away this winter. Perhaps I should not have laid it on its side. But it was secure, not dropped or moved about, in a box under my bed.When I took it out and turned it on I could immediately hear an extremely loud rattling sound. It was loud enough to spook our new pup, and the older dog clearly didn't like it but it was more calm about it all. It sounded like a bunch of ball bearings in large metal container being shaken violently as well as a grinding sound.If I wasn't afraid all of that noise indicated a fault that might cause it to catch fire, I might keep this specifically for dog training. It's such a jarring noise it could be used to help acclimate them to working around noises that would otherwise startle them.Whatever came loose that is causing the fan to make so much noise has drastically affected to air flow. There is very little air flow now, so Even if I could live with the noise, it's useless as a fan.

Unless you are right next to it then dont bother. Bought for spinning fan to go in shelf in the garage, cant feel it 2m away

sounds like a jet engine but doesn't blow any air out. arrived with one of the fan blades poking out through the grill. would not recommend
