AgraTronix Hay Bale Moisture Tester HT-Pro

This is the better bale tester because it has greater moisture reading ranges than the model below. It's very important that you insert the probe directly into and pull straight back out of the bale without twisting or bending to avoid probe damage. Judging by a minority of the reviews I suspect others have handled the probe roughly and broke the probe because of it. It's also nice to be able to recalibrate the tester to verify it's giving accurate readings. Using both the temperature and moisture features you can verify when the hay is cured properly and gives you the opportunity to know your hay is safe to store and won't get moldy. I know experienced farmers know by feel of their hands, smell and crispiness that the hay is good. As for me I need this tester to feel good about the horse hay I'm putting away in the same barn our horses live in.

This is a great product for testing moisture and temperature of my round hay bales. Don't just open it up and try to use it. READ the instructions first!

Seems durable, time will tell. Unit works like it should. It takes the guesswork out of any bales that might have been baled a little green.

It was a tough year for hay in the Midwest due to heavy rains and not many dry days. Hay prices were up to 7.00 bale in some areas. We managed to get hay for 5.00/bale however excess rain caused many barns to have moldy and dusty hay. Our barn purchased this hay moisture tester and we are convinced it saved us a lot of money and headaches from purchasing hay that molds. We literally tested 75% of the bales we took off the hay wagons in the fields to assure they were dry. Some were not and we left them. I have opened some of the bales that we tested about a month ago and they are all great!! I would highly recommed this moisture tester. So far it has given us great results and we have peace of mind knowing the hay we are purchasing is dry and will cure well. Won't go another season without it. We took only bales that were 19% or less and it has all dried and cured just lovely!!

Functioned great on the four bales that got tested before the tip came off. The tip screws on, which made me think there are replacements available. None could be found. Pricey purchase for its short lifespan.

Has worked good been careful with it through my 2nd season with it and has held up and easy to use

Used 4 or 5 times last year. Worked great then first time using it this year plastic tip came off in soft core round bale. Just past 1 year warranty so no replacement. Very disappointed with quality considering the cost.

Piece of junk. Used it briefly (3 or 4 times) then gave me bogus reading “320” never changed after that. Messaged amazon, got told to contact manufacturer, called, was given an address to send it to, never heard back, never saw it again (4 or 5 months). Waste of money.
