No, welding applications would require a darker shade of lenses.

Q: Do the protect eyes from infrared light

This is what the description says: "Lens Technology: True UV Protection - blocks 99.9% of UVA/UVB/UVC rays (highest level of protection). Our Tapered Lens Technology (TLT) reduces visual distortion & eye fatigue. Dark green tinted IR5 Welding lenses filter medium levels of infrared light." I have no idea other that that.

Q: can these (IR5, Green) be used to look into an electric pottery kiln to view the cones?

I am not sure. They are very good sunglasses but I’m not sure I’d use them for that. I hope you get a better answer than what I can give.

Q: Will this protect for staring at a fire? (blacksmithing / IR)

I am using it while pouring molten metal with temperature of 1450. It is very comfortable compared with IR 3
