Great concept, not super useful
I really liked the idea of this device. It seemed to solve the problem of how to get a stand for my Samsung Series 7 Slate PC which could handle the weight of the device, keep it elevated and provide multiple viewing angles. Also, since it is meant to be a universal holder I assumed it would work for something other than an idevice, which I don't think is the case. It seems like it was made for ipad like tablets, It worked well if I was in bed and I was even able to attach it to the steering wheel of my car if I wanted to use my computer while waiting in a parking lot (not while driving of course). The reason for the average rating is two-fold. First of all it added a ton of extra weight which made what was meant to be a powerful utlra-portable device into something cumbersome and a lot less portable. Why didn't I just take the stand off of the computer for transport and reattach it when I needed it you ask? Well, that brings me to complaint #2. The attach/ detach system was cumbersome and awkward. To get my computer to stay in the bracket I had to use a ton of force on the plastic locking nut. Enough so that I did not want to remove it every time I had to transport my computer. The bracket was also not that solid. I found myself needing to push the computer back into the center of the metal several times a day. Which, if you are OCD can be a major problem! So, like the title says, great concept, but not that useful in the real world. Maybe in a second generation they can fix some of these issues.

Good conversation starter
Life form idea is perfect - it mimics the stability of a spider and adapts well to many surfaces. It fits nicely between the slide-out ashtray and the armrest of a Cad DeVille creating a continuous console and ergonomic space to use the i-pad. Do not buy it if you want to be inconspicuous, however. They all stare... On the other hand, it was very handy in bars and coffee shops to start acquaintances; people are curious. One weakness is the ipad attachment bracket itself. It unfolds and forms a floppy, loosey-goosey bracket that you must squeeze to hold your tablet. Since there is no tensioning mechanism, the tablet is difficult to fixture tightly and works itself loose with handling. The device appears to be built well and has performed its first 1700 miles splendidly.

No more useful than a tripod
At first this seemed very useful for holding my tablet, phone, camera, or 5" monitor for filming but the more I used it the less I found it to work as well as I had hoped. Here's a quick overview: the device uses two parts to hold your devices which you lock by tightening a screw. I could never get the clamping system to hold my devices tight enough and they would always slide out. Second, I could never turn the screw enough to lock the clamp down. Once you are satisfied with how it holds, you can adjust the legs to any position to best support your device to a useable angle. Great theory. In reality unless you are clamping onto a tree or laying it flat (useless idea) you are not using all six legs. To stand it up or at an angle, you only use about 3 legs. Hence why a tripod will do you much better, The extra legs just get in the way. Save your money, get a separate device claiming system and go get a gorillapod. Works everytime without fail. I'll just keep this for a movie prop.

Great design with an important caveat
Sigh!.... I love the concept and biomimicry design (like others) but, the Life-Phorm Positioning Device cannot hold my new LG G Pad 8.3. No way, no how. It's fine as a stand, but offers no way to clamp this size tablet tight, the variable bracket being either too small - in one direction - but too big in the other. Tried it on my wife's iPad, and it works as described.I had a friend bring this to South Africa,so I am very disappointed. It works well with a phone and camera, but both these functions are secondary to my primary requirement of being able to hold the tablet stable. I am disappointed..

Loose, Baby. Hold Me Tighter!!!
An interesting idea that could be useful if the maker gives more thought to ergonomics. I had to use pliers to tighten the loosy-goosy clamp -- I have very strong hands, but the wheel used to tighten the clamp which secures the device to their product is too small to get a grip on it. The securing clamp is inadequately designed, so no matter how I manipulate it, the hold it gets on my iPad is loose; I don't want it to drop $800 worth of equipment, so this product is going back. If they address these issues, I'd buy another one.W. Yost

Very adaptable little "thing".
I got this little "thing" because I am a frequent traveler (both for work and pleasure). I was looking for something that I could use whether I was in an airplane, or a car, or a hotel. Found it to be very sturdy no matter where I was. I originally got it for my iPad, but have been using it with my camera too. (Canon DSLR). I'm planning a trip to Peru and now I think bringing this will be a must!It took a little time to figure out some of the best ways to position the legs to get the angles I wanted, but the website helped.

Life Phorm is great for tablets minus one tablet
The media could not be loaded. It works great for mounting a tablet to a tripod and viewing yourself. It helps to make sure you're in frame. However it will not fit a Samsung 8.4" tablet. Close but it is in between sizes. It wouldn't stop me from buying. I think i might can stick a piece of rubber in to fill in the small gap. If you're a film maker or you tube producer this is a must buy for the price. Joby is better to mount a camera for pics.

really neat head turning device, usability is not as practical as it seems...
saw it on massdrop, noticed it was cheaper here so bought it here instead, its really neat, using it with the ipad mini is a little weird, it fits weird but it came in handy a few times. using it for my camera hast been so useful, its just so large that i haven't been able to afford the real estate in my already packed camera bag so i keep leaving it behind.
