Strong premise, meh follow through

I'm having to force myself to finish this book, which is never a good sign. And to be honest, there's no Big Fixable Thing wrong with this book. There are just a half dozen smaller things that are grating on me, and make it hard to fall into the story. The protagonists come across as slightly flat. Frankie is an optimist, business woman, friend, sibling, and all around good person. She doesn't have an obvious flaw or development arc that I can root for OUTSIDE of her romantic relationship. The hero is also just... well, look, I'm involved in the kink scene, and I would assume upon meeting him that I would have to be topping him, alright? To each their own, but he has a passivity that makes me uncomfortable in his head. The verb choices in this book are comic-book like in their intensity. Scowled, snickered, popped, twirled, etc. Okay on its own, but annoying with repetition.I find it absolutely bizarre that not one person in the friend group is like... an office manager or a paralegal or something. They all have Cute Quirky Jobs and own their businesses with punny names. Which again -- happens in plenty of books, but gets annoying when combined with all the other stuff. All in all, this feels like thinly veiled Bucky Barnes/Darcy-like OC fanfic. It's fine. It's... fine. (I have a feeling it will mean the world to the disability community, because like I said-- it doesn't have a fatal flaw. Just a bunch of things that annoy me as an individual.)

This book was totally my type!

This book was everything I didn't know I needed! I loved getting to know both Frankie (whose initials are AWESOME, but you'll have to read the book to find out what they are) and Jay, as well as Frankie's circle of close-knit friends, who I'm guessing will get their stories told as the series moves forward. Multi-layered main characters are my favorite. After all, who wants to read about characters without any depth to them? And depth is exactly what Evie Mitchell offers up in this All Access series starter, both in terms of story and characters. There wasn't any sort of contrived drama-rama to try and gain the reader's sympahthy. Frankie may have been wheelchair-bound, but she was fiercely independent and able-minded, refusing to let anything or anyone limit her. I wanted to give Jay a hug because, man, he deserved it. I just fell in love with these two right as they were falling in love with each other and rightly so! I'm giving five stars to Knot My Type.

This was a fun, schmexy low angst read that I could not put down

Frankie is a sexologist and has a very successful podcast called All Access. She often receives questions from her listeners looking for advice on anything and everything. When someone asks about shibari/rope play she decides to seek out someone who knows more about it than she does. This is how she connects with Jay.Jay is a single, carpenter/home renovator/dinosaur enthusiast and expert at rope play. He is also very good looking. When he meets Frankie, there is an instant spark between them that only grows the more time they spend together. After Jay teaches Frankie the basics of shibari he can sense how turned she is and he is dying to have a taste of her.‘God, it had been so long since anyone had come close to making me feel the way he did.’Frankie is surprised at how responsive she is to Jay and very keen to explore things further with him. Jay is a non-relationship kind of guy after some past experiences really messed with him. He suggests ‘frating’ - friendship/dating but that soon gets forgotten when these two get naked together.‘Be still thy ovaries. Thy God of spontaneous impregnation has arrived.’To be honest, I often skip sex scenes in books, only if they are constantly repeated and there are too many of them. I did no such thing with this story, I enjoyed every moment of Frankie and Jay’s sexy times, he was such an attentive lover and was so in tune with her every need - it was refreshing to read a couple communicating what they both needed/wanted sexually.’I kissed her, and to my horror found she didn’t taste like sugar or spice. She tasted like forever.’There is way more to this story than sex. Jay has some things to work through and part of that is trusting that Frankie is not like any other woman from his past. He isn’t used to having someone in his life prepared to stick up for him and realise his worth. It’s a huge learning curve for him. I especially loved all the secondary characters, Frankie’s girlfriends were heaps of fun and Jay’s family were awesome. This was a fun, schmexy low angst read that I could not put down.

All You Need is Love…and maybe some Knots too…

Knot My Type jumps into not just some very knotty kink…(see what I did there.)…but also tackles disabilities. And let me tell you, Evie has done a phenomenal job taking away the stigma! Frankie might be in a wheelchair, but by the end, you as the read don’t even pay attention to that. Her personality is so big and wonderful that the chair is just a second thought. It might help Jay doesn’t see the chair either. Frankie and Jay are a perfectly match couple. One that helps each other be better. You’ll fall in love with not just the couple but with the whole gang. And that includes a few dinosaur statues in Jay’s front yard! If you love some knot kink, a sex therapist, and a sexy carpenter with kid’s heart, then Knot My Type is a read for you!!!

I felt so many wonderful feelings

I read a lot, 600-700 books a year. I hardly ever rate and books tend to blend together in my mind, storylines are to similar, smut all the same. This book is one that is firmly planted in my mind. The fact that an author is taking the time and supreme effort to give a voice and actual space in this genre to those of us with disabilities. Well excuse the fudge out of me but I cried, like silent amazing tears to finally relate on a level with a female MC. There was a quote I highlighted about getting tired about explaining chronic pain to others. It was literally how I feel everyday when someone says you look tired, how you feeling? Ugh and the smut lord do I read ALOT of smut, but this was literal flames. Do yourself a favor and read this book. I know I am on the edge of my seat dying for the next one. Also the cover?? CHEFS KISS! 💋

Frankie is a Queen

What a woman Frankie is! Determined, clever, sexy and such a good friend I kind of wish she was mine! And Jay is hot yet so vulnerable and he masks his vulnerability in his boyish charms but get them together and the chemistry and the pure love is undeniable.Frankie takes no cr*p. Nothing gets in her way especially not her disability. Yes this is a book about a girl in a wheelchair but it doesn’t take over the story. Frankie’s determination does. I bloody love her!!Pick this up! It’s hot, it’s different it will make you smile, it’ll make you think. It’ll make you want to pour a glass of wine with your girlfriends and laugh the night away!

Not as good as I'd hoped, but ok

I really wanted to like this more than I did, good representation of disabilities across the friendship group, the fmc having a disability that needed consideration from the mmc without it being the focal point for the inevitable conflict. All good.Where is fell down a bit was the dialogue, it was clunky and didn't read like how people talk to each other. I felt like it was a lecture of a Ted talk a lot of the time.It did pick-up in the latter part of the book, although the conflict was weirdly brief, that said the whole book is quite short.A solid 2.5 bumped up to a 3 rather than downgraded to a 2

God I adored this book so much!

When I initially saw this book posted on Instagram I instantly knew it would be amazing. Paving ways for stories about these amazing characters that you don't see in everyday books, I knew this was exactly what I needed to be reading. It was funny, relatable, educational and DAMN SEXY! I loved these 2 together and I'm so sad it's finished but so unbelievably glad I got to read the characters journeys. Can't wait to read more from Miss Evie Mitchell

Okay

I really liked the characters of this story, especially Frankie but I just felt like it was lacking a little more context. This is what I'd call all spice but no rice like the story was super steamy but there wasn't much in the way of a storyline

4.5 ✨

What a refreshing change to read about a disabled character and learn things but at the same time just enjoy their ride! It highlighted some struggles, ableist language but that wasn’t the focus. I loved it and Jay was such a simp for his rainbow girl. Definitely recommend.
