Points of View: Revised Edition

Wonderful book full of colorful short stories. I bought it for a class and was easy to finish!

This book offers an excellent selection of stories written in various points of view. If you want to accent your studies or if you need to see the point of view element in action, this book is the perfect source. Chapter organization is based on each type of point of view so that the reader can zero in on whatever point of view she would like to review. The authors featured are both classical writers and modern authors. After working through dozens of books on point of view, this one stands out from the others.This book is a keeper. It belongs in the collection of any serious writer.

I chose this rating because the book provides excellent examples of various narrative techniques from interior and dramatic monologue through memoir and autobiography to various POVs (points of view). The stories chosen are drawn from past and present masters of the short story genre, culturally diverse and of both genders. and are grouped so that each narrative technique can easily be explored by the reader who is interested in the refinements of writing, or by the writer who wants to hone his/her art. Each story stands on its own simply as good reading as well, so can be enjoyed by anyone with an appreciation of fine writing.

There are some excellent stories in this collection. Some are very dark so I will have to read this in moderation...sandwiched between reading uplifting stories from another collection perhaps?My favorite so far is "Stone Boy".

In my opinion, this is the best book there is for learning about "points of view." I like the fact that it is a collection of short stories rather than of excerpts from longer works.

This is a great basic collection of short stories. I was assigned this for a class, but I find myself reading the stories I wasn't even assigned! I also appreciate the authors' comments on the different narrative forms even though I don't always agree!

excellent would use again

My issue is not with the anthology so much as the copy I received. It began on page 33... so obviously a defective copy. Unfortunately I waited until after the return window to open the book.So CHECK YOUR COPY ON ARRIVAL. Given that this anthology compiles not only stories but some editorial notes, I feel like I missed out on crucial opening notes.

This is a good collection folks. And it has this sort of old school printing charm to it. I really liked it. good stories in there, some you may have read already, but the collection is fairly well thought out.If you are into various forms of short story reading, especially those from the yester years, go for it.
