Thoughtful design, well executed
Over my life I have had many (perhaps my most satisfying) jobs that necessitated wearing an apron (dishwasher, cook, ski mechanic, leather worker) and I always felt like I wasn't really on the job until I donned my apron! Perhaps that is why, even today, whenever I'm in the in the kitchen or in the workshop, if I'm serious about what I'm doing, putting on my apron is the first thing I do!Although I have long appreciated a good apron, I have seldom had one! Now I do! For me, there has been two types of aprons, designed for different tasks. I realize now that there are actually three types. In the kitchen I need something that provides good coverage, is constructed of a heavy duty cotton that can regularly be washed, with a chest pocket for a phone, at least two close fitting pockets just below waist level just in case you need a place to store your keys (although I seldom put any kitchen utensils in them) and straps that are long enough that I can wrap them around and tie them in front (this gives me an easy place to tuck a dish towel to wipe my hands on). It also needs to be super easy to put on and take off (to transition between the kitchen and the dining room). With its leather reinforcements, metal fittings, heavier fabric and fussy donning, the Twigs and Bones apron is not what I would use in the kitchen. In situations where I am doing light construction work, away from a bench, I still need a chest pocket for a phone and pencil, but now I need more pockets (pouches really) for nails, screws and a few tools, since I'm up and around (climbing ladders, etc.) I prefer a shorter style. With the heavier load, I don't like to rely on a simple string tie, and certainly do not want extra strings or knots hanging down (and especially in front) so prefer some sort of buckle closure. Because of the pockets and the extra length, the Twigs and Bones would not be my first choice for this application. But now for the third type (and for this I have been mistakenly using the other two types for years!). In the workshop, up against the bench, grappling with power tools and cords, covered with sawdust one needs a sturdy close fitting apron, with no baggy or loose pockets to catch on things (but still big enough to hold a few essential tools) and an overall length long enough to provide good protection. Here is where the Twigs and Bones apron excels! The fabric is very sturdy, and the leather straps are strong and well designed. I appreciate the extra touch of leather reinforcement on the strap attachment points. I saw one reviewer that thought the straps were too thin. As a leather worker, I can say that they are just the right thickness, I certainly would not wish them to be any thicker. The pockets are perfect! The chest pocket is nice and deep, and easily holds my iPhone 6S and pencils. I've seen others with ridiculously shallow pockets, which makes me wonder how thoughtfully they were designed and tested (if at all!). The other pockets are also deep, but fit close to the apron to avoid catching them on things or filling up with sawdust (both of which routinely happen with my light construction work apron). The harness design eliminates any stress or weight on the shoulders. I have seen other makers attempt to use elastic, suspender type straps, with no attachment around the waist… that would drive me crazy!I have only two minor complaints. The hitch fastener that secures the adjustment of the vertical strap has popped loose once. This may be because I treated the leather (which I always do) prior to using it. If this persists I'll just replace it with a T-nut. Also, the quick-attach clip on the right side can be a little fussy to use. I do prefer it to nylon Fastex buckles, however, and I really appreciate the actual belt buckle adjustment on the left side! So, now, at long last, I have my type three apron (which is what I spend more time wearing) and I love it. Thanks Twig and Bones for taking the time to get it right!

Durable canvas apron with waist adjustments
I use this as my gardening apron so that my clippers, gloves, and other items are handy. I love the durability of the canvas and the look of the apron. I'm pleased with the number of waist adjustments---- the apron fits very wide to very tiny waists. I also like that I can easily clip the apron on and off at the waist--- I don't have to "belt buckle" the apron each time. My only complaint is that the shoulder straps are not highly adjustable (just a few holes). I have to wrap my middle back strap in a loop, which is a little bulky since the straps are leather, in order to shorten the length of the apron to a woman's frame.

We loved this item until a few uses in the fasteners have broken! Now we cannot replace it with a new one. With that customer service and short lifespan, I would not recommend this product.

Perfect amount of pockets
Solidly constructed and designed. Perfect amount of pockets. Leather straps are a bit stiff and scratchy to start, but they broke in quickly. Sturdy addition to the BBQ arsenal.

It's a good fit. Only reason I didn't go 5 stars was that the leather straps are very stiff and immobile. Hopefully they lossen up over time.

A man with an eye for detail.
The pictures of this apron, does not do it justice. The materials and details are fantastic: rivets, leather, contrast stitching, and duct canvas. What I love though, is how it wears. The shape of the over the shoulder straps are such that I can wear a t-shirt without the typical abrasion on the neck from other apron designs. I'm in the process of buying another...

I quite like it, nice large pockets where they need to be. only complaint is that for us huskier customers, the leather strap across the lower back needs to be a little longer. i will have to make my own substitute. just add about 2 to 3 more inches to the strap, and all would be well, for even the plus size.
