Low cost, fair quality.
The axe works, bottom line. The steel is a bit on the cheap side but it holds an alright edge and does the job. Its not very pretty, as it's covered in grind marks and the handle is a light wood coated in some sort of brownish paint (thats the 'hickory' I bet). But you get a usable axe at a price that wont chop into your budget.Bottom line? If you get this bad boy pick up a sharpening puck, and maybe some sandpaper to straighten out the handle. Looks like a kid went st it with a marker.

Hmmmm? Not sure about this one
Not quite sure about this axe. In the unboxing I noticed that the axe head had some inconsistencies, the beard to the top had been ground crooked and there was pitting on the head, plus the grind was inconsistent..... we'll see how she does next weekendUPDATE*Out of the box, the grind was terrible, chopping wood was cumbersome. So I took it to the grinder, re-profiled it, then filed it, then put a rough stone to it....... it chops beautifully. Comfortable to swing, decent ergonomics. If you're not scared of sharpening up an axe, it's a decent choice

Great for the money
I will say it could be better... The edge on the ax head wasn't great, but okay... I took a minute to put a better edge on it and sanded the handle... Now she chops like a beast... Nice thick handle makes you feel like it won't slip out of your hands...

Bites DEEP after general tuning
First day - out of the box - I could see the potential. The factory edge was OK for general purpose. The fit of the head was excellent. The finish was acceptable. Later I sanded the handle just a bit and I ground a 'proper' edge. The next day I went out and this axe bit DEEP for a 1250g (2.75-lb) head. The handle is American Hickory, but I do believe the head is made in Germany. Overall, after the general touch-up as described, this axe is a fantastic bargain ($40).

Great Value and Product!!!
I had been looking for a good wedge ax but didn't want to spend a lot of money considering frequency of use . This one fit my needs exactly. Took awhile to get it since the first was lost in shipping but as always Amazon was great in correcting the hickup. The ax is good quality and has a nice hickory handle. I put a little better edge on it but then I enjoy doing stuff like that.

It's ok but the back is soft
First is the poshed head is good, but some waves from over aggressive grinding. It will need sharpened, file it true and then stoned. It has a good grip to the handle that is stained and not finished with laquer. I hit the pole ( the rear of the head) with a hammer and it is soft and made easy dents to drive it, so that is not a hardened area. So, time will tell if it can hold the sharp edge.

Ugh- previous reviews were right... no bueno!
Well, you get what you pay for... usually. This axe is a good reminder. The handle is ok, definitely not crafted and finished by someone who cuts trees for a living. The head is bad, unfortunately. The non-existent edge was expected, but the completely flawed head is impossible to fix. 1/3 down the axe-blade, the metal thins out to about 2/3 of the rest of the thickness. Also, the alignment is not straight at all, limiting the ability to hone a reliable edge, or even feel safe using it for any extended period. I will try to use it a few more times, but have very low hope that it holds an edge, even after I spent a lot of time creating one. Spend the money on a better option.

Don't purchase if splitting wood on regular basis
Looks good before you use it, but it is garbage. Very dull edge. BS hickory handle. Funny they actually stamp shiny script "hickory" on side. Planning on sending back.

Only Down side it came dull!

Great Value
Nice Hickory handle and shape. Axe head polishing looks nice but rushed. 1/4” spot of axe head by handle is ground down too far on one side. Other than that, great value. I’ll grind, polish and mount in my shop.
