Q: I just purchased a sword made of a High Carbon Damascus Steel. Could I use this to protect the blade?

I apply a coat of Renaissance Wax to all of the Damascus Steel blade knives I add to my collection as soon as I receive them. Be sure to follow the directions for applying and removing it to get the best protection and appearance of your Damascus Steel sword blade. I even apply it to the exposed tang, handle scales made of wood, horn, or bone and the hardware attaching the scales to the tang to give the same layer of protection the blade receives. Since I live in a very high humidity area, New Orleans, Louisiana, I also store each knife and sheath in a ziploc bag with some desiccant packs to absorb any moisture from the leather sheath and our environment. I have done this for over two years and have found no rust spots forming on any of my knives' blades. I hope you enjoy your Damascus Steel bladed sword for many years, and Renaissance Wax will do its part to help you do that.

Hi G.Have you cleaned this bronze statue? If not I would use a cleaner specifically for bronze metal first. As far as the Renaissance wax goes I highly recommend it. How often you may use it could depend on your indoor environment. But it can be used as often as you like without harm. The wax is very thin, goes on very well. It does have a bit of an odor BUT that dissipates shortly. Renaissance is the choice of museums world wide for rare & valuable items. That's why I use it.

Q: I am looking for a wax for my copper fence post covers - outdoors. Will this work? If so, how often should you re-apply?

If you want to keep them shiny, clear lacquer is a good way to go. This lacquer is designed to prevent corrosion for outdoor applications. https://www.amazon.com/Permalac-Original-Clearcoat-Satin-Finish/dp/B075MR3D1T I used it on copper bathroom fittings about a year ago and the copper looks exactly like it did a year ago. No sign of corrosion.

Q: Anyone know if it could improve the appearance of a matte Formica counter top?

No, not if you are going to subsequently use the counter top. Its a wax. A very good wax. But still only wax. I use it mainly as a final coat on fine furniture.
