Gorgeous Red Plants
I have been working in our HOA garden for the past six months. I was given free range of what to plant and where. I bought the red amaranth seeds because of the plant’s beauty and because the amaranth was reportedly a staple in the diet of many indigenous peoples throughout much of the Americas before the arrival of Europeans. The seeds sprouted readily, and the plants are eyecatching. They are making seeds now, and I won’t be surprised if, next spring, little red plants pop up all over the garden. One word of caution: if you live in a place where deer come into town, they may well find your garden and begin nibbling away selectively at the amaranth, as opposed to other tyes of flowering plants.

Great seeds
Started mine is hydro gardens. I think I already reviewed these.Anyway, hydro garden, then outside for color in the gardens,. That's if the cat doesn't eat them. She gave all mine buzz ✂️ cuts.Germinate fast, even a day they pop open.

Great germination.
I always plant my seeds in self-watering seedling starter buckets then plant the seedlings out at about 2 inches. Seeds are tiny so I ended up putting too many per planter cup and seems they've all germinated. Reading up on amaranth on the Internet after the fact I see they can be easily (so they say) startted by simply preparing seed bed and planting them on the surface. Next time.

Growing!
The flowers are growing. I planted them in two locations but they are really only growing well in one of the places.

They grew wonderfully.
They were perfect and really healthy once germinated and moved outdoors! I love amaranth and all the critters it attracts. Sadly, the heat wave this year took them out. 😔 I have some seeds left over and I will try again once it cools down a bit! I have no doubt they’ll pop right back up!

I have purchased these a few times!
I am very happy with these amaranth seeds. Some of them I grow big, sometimes I put a whole bunch of the seeds in a small pot and enjoy them in miniature. That is the picture I posted. I put the seeds in a pocket pot! The sun really makes the color stand out. I usually grow them next to my sunflowers. I also use them to add a bit of pizzazz to my flower arrangements.
