Well balanced and powerful
A geeat tool, well balanced abd last a long time on 20v battery. I use a 20/60v which rwallu gives it better power and a lot mire run time. My prop has losts of dead fall and sapplings and this saw really does the job. Easy blade change.

Reliable and Powerful Reciprocating Saw
As someone who enjoys DIY projects, the DEWALT 20V MAX* XR Reciprocating Saw has been an incredible addition to my toolkit. The power and efficiency it offers are outstanding, making tasks like cutting through wood and metal straightforward and quick. One aspect I appreciate is its compact size, which allows me to get into tight spaces without compromising performance. The saw is easy to handle, and the lightweight design reduces fatigue, especially during prolonged use. The variable speed trigger gives me precise control over cutting speed, which is beneficial when working on different materials. The blade changes are a breeze with the keyless lever-action system, which saves me time and hassle. This feature is especially handy when switching between cutting wood and metal. The saw's power is impressive, easily cutting through thick lumber and metal pipes without bogging down. However, the tool does generate some vibration, which is something to be aware of. Using gloves can help mitigate this issue, providing a more comfortable experience. Also, it's essential to have a good quality blade to get the most out of this saw's capabilities. The battery life is decent, but having a spare battery on hand is a good idea for extended projects. The compatibility with other DEWALT 20V MAX* tools is a plus, as I can interchange batteries between different tools. In summary, the DEWALT 20V MAX* XR Reciprocating Saw is a robust and versatile tool that has significantly improved my DIY endeavors. Its compact design, power, and ease of use make it a valuable asset for any DIYer or professional.

One hand use
Since I'm not out in the field remodeling and renovating any longer I use my older nicad pod style cordless tools to do work around the house and in the yard, I recently purchased an adaptor that converts the old pod style tool so that it uses the new lithium ion batteries. My DeWalt recip saw is 16 years old and this adaptor made it sing like a new tool, but while out trimming limbs it just stopped working. Something is broken inside, not repairable so I had to start looking for a new one on Amazon. After some research on the web I found 2 that I liked and weren't too expensive, I chose the compact recip saw as it is a bit lighter in weight and a few inches shorter than the other traditional style and can be used one handed. It arrived this morning and I took it outside and started using it right away cutting small limbs from a fallen tree branch. Indeed I can use it with one hand, light and powerful with those new batteries, one thing l noticed right away is that the foot that is supposed to pivot is very stiff and hard to move. I will most likely have to put some WD on it to get it loosened up, I also think the price point is too high for a smaller less powerful recip saw. It is 400 RPM's slower and a few ounces lighter than a traditional saw. It fits well in my hand but if it is pushed hard and one is not wearing gloves this saw's handle will leave blisters on the area between the thumb and index finger. The saw performed well through many hours of cutting limbs and pruning out in the hot Texas sun, and all can do is hope it lasts as long as my old one.

Top Notch.
It just what the doctor ordered for me. I am not doing heavy demolition or ripping through cars. Just some light work on limited space. I recently used it to trim down a heavy old fashioned entertainment center stand and it got the job done. Minimal battery usage for what i was doing with it. This is the second time ive used it and i can say it is pretty good. I can obviously offer you no information about durability. If you want a real review go watch youtube's A Concord/ something something's review of a bunch of these guys. This one was pitted against a bunch of fulllsize saws. I can this baby gets the job done. It pulls you through the cuts. It wants to help you with your project. It didn't burn through my battery. It didn't slow down on anything. I believe it has four directions to mount the blade. The variable speed is top notch and very easy to control. The only downside to this is that is does shake your hands a bit. I am not an everyday worker though and i defiinitely notice tool vibration. This one reminded me of old lawnmowers in terms of how my hands felt after i finished. So if you are going to do prolonged or or heavy duty demo, you might want to "step down" to the heavier non-compact, non brushless version or, if you're feeling froggy stop up to what is sure to be a powerhouse, the 60v brushless full size monster. Unrelated to this saw is the three blades i used, and i can say for cutting through wood, the Milwaukee carbide AX is overrated. It cut slower and with much more resistance than the dewalt blades i ordered and certainly the diablo thin kerf blade i ordered. I wouldn't buy it again or recommend it to anyone.

Such a great tool!
I use the saw with Diablo blades for homeowner landscaping. Whether cutting roots or tree branches, this thing is amazing. I’ve never had any issues. If in the market for a sawzall type tool, do not hesitate in DeWalt’s version.

This thing rips. I trimmed up a pallet with a huge metal lathe still on it and I was able to get up close to the machine without issue. The depth of cut is nice with standard wood blades. Plenty of power to cut through several pieces of wood with a 2Ah battery. The quick change blade with multiple tool positions came in handy too. This tool has its uses just like a multitool oscillating cutter but it definitely deserves a spot in your tool bag.

I used it for pruning and it cuts super fast. Keep in mind this is a bare unit without batteries. I already have batteries since I own other Dewalt 18V (20V in US) power tools. Highly recommended.
