High Roller - The Stu Ungar Story

An amazing story of the greatest poker player of all time. As someone who loves Tex holdem and all things cards , this movie is one of the greats. #1 poker movie in my book , based on the true story of the greatest card player in history. This movie gives a small glimpse into the dark and tragic life of a man who had an extremely high IQ, who chose to play cards and gamble.

I play gin rummy 3 days a week so I loved this movie. If you play you will most likely enjoy it but otherwise probably not!

I had hoped the this would focus more on the amazing reads he was able to make and not as much on his personal life. With that said it is still a good movie and I will watch it again.

Good movie which outlines Stu Ungar's life story as a poker and gin rummy player. What I liked: I enjoyed finding out about Stu Ungars personal life. I enjoyed the small poker scenes of the world series event that were re created. Although some of the other poker scenes in the movie were a little bit far fetched and not done properly. I would have enjoyed the movie more if there was more poker and gin rummy footage. As I said worth a watch and if you like Stu Ungar you should definetely watch this movie. ps There is some very difficult moments in the movie where you watch Stu Ungar flush his whole bank roll on sports betting, booze, drugs and women. The footage is very real and the directors did a great job in re creating those moments. The other thing I found is that you enjoy watching the movie more after the first time you watch it. Usually after the third time you watch the movie you will appreciate it more.

Michael Imperioli in one of his best roles. The Stu Unger story itself is one of tragedy & one of life lesson. Probably one of the 2 or 3 greatest gamblers ever, Unger's life, both highs & lows, is strongly depicted in this movie. Though I do feel the producers foregave some of the "Hollywood" vigor for truth, I appreciate that & I feel it works.

This movie is AWESOME!!! Whether you enjoy poker or are just a fan of life stories, this is portayed well. Stu was a phenomenal poker player who left a great impact on the game. When you play blackjack at a casino and they use a minimum of 3 decks you know? That is from this man and his great talents and smarts for gambling. Thank him? Maybe not for that aspect, but definately appreciate what he has done for the game. GREAT MOVIE!!!! One of my favorites.

I always loved this movie. Anybody who follows WSOP knows Stu Ungar IS A LEGEND.

Rien à voir avec le livre.. Trop de raccourcis notamment sur le poker.. pas plaisant à regarder. aucun intérêt pour ceux qui s'intéressent à Stu Ungar et à sa vie.

High Roller: The Stu Ungar Story [2003] (REGION 1) (NTSC) You will need a region 1 DVD player. When i tried to play it on my PC the intervideo software already on the disc gave me a problem requiring codecs. Checking their website they recommend BUYING WinDVD from Intervideo to watch on PC. For the price if your a poker fan it's worth a watch but don't expect a classic in the content or the performances. It's difficult not to think you are watching an episode of The Sopranos.

Worst film i have seen in a long time, i ended up fast forwarding the last hour. i was really looking forward to this one too. If you are interested in Stu Ungar read one of the books instead, .'one of a kind' was interesting and well written. This is just Hollywood rubbish and lacks even the most remote level of realism. If you fancy donating two hours of your life that you will never be able to get back, buy this film.
