Q: Where is this made of ?China?

Q: I only use a very small amount of this for making Christmas cookies and it has an expiration date on it. Does it really go bad? thanks.

Actually it does loose it's strength. I kept it tightly closed as soon as I removed the measured amount. The recommendation is to replace every year. Mine was fine for 2 years. Then it noticeably was not able to adequate leaven springerle cookies. It still smelled very strong in the container, but the cookies didn't smell as strong when drying which was a clue. Then they didn't rise enough; cookies were like eating flour. I discarded 2 whole batches of springerle before figuring out why. And those take a very long time to mold. It was adequate for some other uses when old, but from now on I'll just get a new batch of hartshorn every year.

Should be in 2022, as this product has an expiration date of 2 years from manufacturing date.
