Flies indoors? Order this now. Works quick, no poisons
If flies have broken into your home, get this product! It zapped a fly within it's first 5 minutes. In less than 24 hours, I see no more flies. At the time of this writing, it's winter and cold outdoors. Flies sought refuge in my bedroom – so gross! I didn't want sticky fly paper because it's cruel and disgusting. I also didn't want poisonous bug killer in my house to protect my family, including cats and dogs. I don't like killing anything, but catch-and-release traps weren't working. So, I tried this because there's no lingering suffering – it seems to kill flies on contact, so it's a quick end to them. This zapper is quiet until it zaps a fly – then you hear a pop. I am thrilled not to see one errant fly in the house. If any more come into the house or out of hiding, I know this zapper will save the day. It's made well, so quality manufacturing and is a solid value for an attractive price.

Got flies? GET THIS!
We buy a ton of stuff from Amazon...too much stuff, lol. Because of that, I only write reviews if something sucks or if something, like in this case, exceeds my expectations. We live in Florida, and during the summer, we sometimes struggle to keep flies from getting inside. We are constantly coming in and out of several doors throughout the day. I've tried the fly traps that stink to high heaven (more on that in a moment), I've tried fly paper, and just about everything else. No dice. In near desperation, I bought this bug zapper. It took a little detective work to determine the most effective location to place this device, but once I figured that out, it started working its magic immediately. We have a propane-fired water heater in our garage next to the door leading inside. Turns out flies are attracted to the CO2 given off by the propane as it burns. They are also attracted to the odorant put in propane (called Mercaptan). This zapper is legit. I have been emptying the tray at least twice just to see the fly body count. It is definitely working, and at present, the fly problem is gone inside the house. Of course, it is zapping mosquitoes and other flying critters, too, but it is the flies we wanted dead. One thing to note - when it zaps a fly the sound is a bit startling. I can sometimes hear it inside the house. When I am in the garage and it gets one, I am still caught a little off guard by the sound. It is pretty loud. It is also oddly satisfying LOL. I will be getting a second one for our back porch near my grill as that is another fly hot spot. A note regarding those fly traps that you fill with water to attract and kill flies. We tried them several times. Here’s the thing… they will ATTRACT flies from miles around and they will trap and kill them. But they are bringing in flies that likely wouldn’t be on your property in the first place. We hung 3 of them as far from the house as possible at different locations. They quickly filled up with nasty flies but it made no difference to our inside problem. This zapper won’t attract any extra flies rather it just steadily deals with the ones you’d normally have around.

The ASPECTEK waterproof mosquito exterminator flashlight is a clever and versatile gadget for pest control at home or outdoors. Stilll working after 8 years
Had two of them for over 8 years. They are still working. The on off rocker switches have failed just recently, but we just plug them in with the cord when we need them and they continue to ZAP everything that flies nearby. I highly recommend these essential killers of pesky bugs!

Buyer Beware! Common electrical problem! Just search "smoke" in the reviews
Just bought this last month and everything was fine. Today, however, i heard a pop sound and then some buzzing that I thought was a big bug or something trapped and moving around. Went to check anyway and saw smoke coming from the right side of the unit near the power button. Immediately unplugged and turned it off! The vents up top also had this black ash residue. The bulbs and lights looked fine so for sure was something on the inside of the unit. It also smelled like melted plastic rather than fried bugs. This all seems to align with what a lot of other bad reviews have stated. Some have said it was the smell of "electrical fire" or the motherboard going out. Also, the smell of "chemicals" and "plastic" seems to be talking about the same problem as well. All have said they were lucky to be there or else it might've caught fire and done real damage to their home. With that being said, I'm giving this one star. Although it worked amazingly, it only lasted after just over a month of usage. With it also being a potential fire hazard that can't be left unattended, it's a very risky buy and not worth the trouble. They don't do as good a job but I'm leaning more towards getting those vacuum traps that attract insects and pull them downward to a sticky pad. Hopefully the components of those devices won't catch fire!

Going back to the original fluorescent tube model
Brief product review 8/4/25 With this newer model having supposedly more effective, longer lasting LED bulbs, that would eventually save money, I purchased this Aspectek bug zapper. In the first night’s use, I saw that the older model version was more effective in attracting bugs than the new LED version. Therefore I will be sending this LED version back and buying the old fluorescent version that actually works better. More comprehensive review: I have two of the older models and purchased this newer designed model of bug zapper because it has LED light bulbs. These LED light bulbs are stated that they will last much longer than fluorescent light bulbsand have bulbs that will attract bugs better. My fluorescent light bulbs last about a year running continuously day and night. I live where there is adequate rainfall and therefore have an abundance of bugs. I live out in the country where there is livestock that also increases the bug population. I normally have to clean my electrocution grids daily with the old style since the older model is extremely effective in attracting and killing bugs. The newer model has a better metal - stainless steel electrocution grid that is better at staying clean and not corroding from dead bugs than the older model. The newer model has a different style of protective outer grill that is screwed onto the zapper instead of snapping onto the zapper like the older version. Therefore, there are two things I do not like in this newer style. With me having to clean the grids daily, the newer style outer safety metal grid is narrower in its openings forbug to fly through so that using a cleaning brush is a LOT more difficult because the wires are horizontal and much narrower. With a narrower outer grid wire pattern, larger flying bugs cannot reach the elctrocution grid and so are not killed. This is why one of the reasons I observed more bugs killed with the older model. Also with the older model having the outer safety wire grid being snapped in at the bottom, the grids are much easier and quicker to remove to deep clean. Maybe since the electroution grid stays much cleaner, the manufacturer thought that deep cleaning would not be neccessary so much. This brand of bug zapper is the most dependable at killing mosquitoes and other flying insects than the other bug zappers I have tried. In other words, this brand of the older version has been the most effective and long lasting bug zappers I have used. I have my bug zappers right next to my back door underneath a covered porch so these zappers are protected from the rain. I have used my older models for about four years and they still work fine. The only issue is that I have to use a brass bristle wire brush to deep clean the electrocution grids about once a year. The issue I have with the older model is that the fluorescent tube pin area gets filled with dust and dead bugs, making the tubes difficult to twist and remove after a year of use. With the LED, much longer life tubes, this would not be as much of an issue. The older model has outer grids that require a standard, flat blade screw driver to pry and unsnap the bottom of the grid to remove for deep cleaning. The snaps hold so tightly that they are diificult to unsnap easily. Another issue is that the new style outer grids are much lower to the frame so that the bug tray cannot be easily removed like the older model. This is unsatisfactory for me - in my engineering mindset - a huge mistake! I hung my new model next to my old model to see if the LED light bulbs would attract more bugs. I have to say that the pictures from being overnight killing bugs tell me that the newer model does not attract bugs as well as the older model. I have posted a picture showing the new model labeled and the old model labled. The older version has about three times as many bugs over night. I plan on sending this model back and buying another of the old model. Even though I like the idea of saving money and hassle at changing light bulbs each year, I have seen that the old version attracts many more bugs in this side-by-side demonstration. I would much rather buy new light bulbs each year and eliminate more bugs than use this model. I plan to send this newer model back and buying another of the original version instead.
