SPOT ON!
This is a sweet tale developed by the author to explain birthmarks to a young child. Many children feel singled out by physical differences. Usova compares the marks on human skin to those features that make animals unique. She cites the tiger, leopard, butterfly, and giraffe, to name a few of her examples. A birthmark is just a sign of uniqueness, not something negative. The illustrations are simple but adequately explain the text. I would highly recommend this book for parents and teachers who want a simple, straightforward approach to tackle the subject of physical differences to young children and as a preventative measure to ward off bullying. Especially recommended for toddlers and preschoolers but appropriate as a lesson for any age.

Great message of self-acceptance!
“My Spots” is a sweet children’s book about finding our own unique “spots” and being okay with any birthmarks that nature gave us. The author gently guides children through a journey of acceptance and self-love by illustrating beautiful spots and markings found on animals in nature. This is a wonderful new addition to my OMazing Kids collection of children’s picture books on self-esteem! I like that it includes a page for the child to draw their own special birthmark spots & a page for them to answer the question “If you were an animal, what type of spots would you have?” and then draw it.Angela Moorad, MS, CCC-SLPSpeech-Language PathologistFounder of OMazing Kids, LLC - inclusive wellness activities for kids of all abilitiesFacebook: OMazingKidsYoga

My Spots
This is a wonderful book to read to kids who may have a birthmark and for those who do not, as well. I bought this book to read to my daughter who was 10 at the time. She was born with a birthmark (Hemangioma), under her chin. I never made a big deal about it though some friends would ask her what it was, I always called it a beauty spot. I don't think she was self conscious about it, though she did ask about it now sometimes, it has faded significantly now. I wish I had this book when she was younger to make her feel like it was no big deal and we all have our spots somewhere. I donated this to our local elementary school when my daughter outgrew it, so they could pass along the positive message of awareness. The art is wonderful also!

What a very fastinating story this is of how a mother came up this!
I liked it very much and thought this was a special ebook for her daughter and others who may feel as disappointed or perhaps also ashamed of the special marks on their skin which perhaps made them not feel so good about themselves...Therefore, I wish to recommend this for five stars and especially for young kids or others older who have been teased about this special mark that makes them unique.I received this ebook for free and in return, here is my honest review. Great and unique book! A+++!
This book is a great read and is unique due to its content! It touches on making a child feel comfortable and confident about what nature gave them, their birthmarks! The analogies of animals spots and stripes to a child's birthmark helps them understand that they're not alone. I wish I would've had this book when I was young, because I was born with a birthmark and always had insecurities about it. The beautiful drawings and colors demand my attention and keep me interested. I would recommend this book for pre-kindergarten to first grade students. This will definitely be on my book shelf in my classroom! Wonderful book!
