This is a very nice bookcase for the price point. This obviously isn't high-end furniture that you'll hand down for generations. It doesn't use hardwood or artisan joinery, like dovetails, or anything fancy you'd see on a pre-assembled bookcase costing twenty times as much. It's composite material with a synthetic veneer that has a wood-like print, and you assemble it yourself. That said, it's solid, looks nice, and has lots of sections you can use to organize books and other items. It looks great in my home office. I'm loving it!As for the shipping, my first one arrived damaged. The box was covered with dents and gashes, all of which happened after the shipping labels were applied. One of the shipping labels was even torn from the damage, so I know it happened after it had been shipped. Shipping was by FedEx, and even the second package had damage. Now for the customer service.When I opened the first box, I saw that despite being packaged with plenty of styrofoam, several of the wood parts were damaged or broken. I contacted the seller/manufacturer per their instructions. They got back to me within a day asking for pictures of the damage. Once I sent those, they again responded within a day letting me know they would send me a replacement unit. They were very friendly and easy to work with. They kept me posted on the replacement order status the whole way, and sent it out promptly. I had absolutely no issues communicating with them. They were apologetic about the damaged unit and very attentive to my needs. I couldn't have asked for better service.As noted above, the packaging for the replacement unit was also partly damaged in transit (again, after the shipping labels had been attached), but this time the internal packaging was sufficient to protect the item itself.I assembled it quite easily, and am very happy with the final result. It doesn't feel flimsy at all. You just need to be careful not to apply "sideways" (angular) pressure on the shelves during assembly. By that, I mean that when you attach a vertical piece to a shelf, you need to be careful to not stress the place where they're attached. This shouldn't be an issue if you have enough space to work and don't try to move it much until it's assembled. There are a few screws that are in locations that make them hard to screw in because they're close to the floor (assuming you build it on a floor or carpet, as most people would). It's a bit easier on carpet, so you don't scrape your knuckles. DO NOT USE POWER TOOLS! They aren't necessary and will likely cause damage. There are lots of screws to put in, but they go in easily. Using a power tool, you'd likely over-tighten and create a weaker joint by damaging the composite (wood) material. Honestly, this is true of ALL furniture made with composite material, not just this product, so this is general advice. Just take your time and you'll be fine.

Im always a little reluctant ordering build your own furniture on amazon because in my experience there is always quality issues and parts broken/missing. I was pleasantly surprised that was not the case with this book shelf display. The box it came in had a bunch of dings and puncture holes from shipping but because it was packed well with a lot of foam inserts none of the internals suffered any damage. The build quality on how it’s built and the parts used is very nice and the quality of the “wood” was better than expected. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase and would order another one again. It was really hard finding this many slots with the dimensions this unit had so this was perfect for my needs (legos)I knocked off 1 star because a couple of the boards had some scuff marks on the edges but when it was built you barely noticed. It also put off a weird smell from the wood material but that has dissipated

Purchased this as a replacement for my tv stand to store all of my toddlers toys & overall I am very pleased! It was kind of difficult to find bins to fit the inside due to the dimensions. I was able to put it together in an hour with a handheld screwdriver & it is pretty sturdy. I would definitely recommend to other parents looking for functional storage.

Very poorly designed, the pieces were hard go get adjusted correctly, and once together and sat upright, most of those round things fell out.

Purchased for my classroom. Absolutely love it. Great for storing my notebooks.
