I only have one key. Why are two keys required? is my only option the dealer?

You will need to go to a locksmith or dealer to have your second key programmed ($50-$60). Then there are websites that explain how you can program the third key yourself.

I have a 2004 f150 Heritage edition. I’m told these are leftover 2003 f150 Will this key work?
