Dorman 600-602 Transfer Case Control Lever Compatible with Select Ford Models

When I first glanced at the photo it did not look like sny of my purchases; but looking at the items other photos it was a purchase. It took the place of the junk I had purchased with twilight zone threads. This one worked perfectly and shifts like showroom 97 performance. I will suggest you forego the $30 cheaper multiple pains as they are extreme waste of time. I spent 12 hours with 2 of them, returned etc. I spent less than an hour with this one.

Worked fine. Install was not bad. I did have to cut a little bit of floorboard out in order to get a socket onto the center bolt. It was under the shifter boot and didn't show. Also, it's always a bit more fun if I get to cut something.

This perfectly fit my 1997 Ford F250HD 4x4. I bought three other brands that stated that they would fit, but their shoulder bolt pivot bolt did not have the correct thread. This kit fit perfectly. It is NOT an easy installation. I had to soak the original stuck pivot bolt for days with PB Blaster. I had to cut a flap in the cab floor to gain access. I had to use my giant 3/4" breaker bar with a pipe extension to get the original bolt loose.

I had to re-use the bolt from the original linkage as the one provided was too small. The plastic bushing had broken in the box so I had to re-use my old ones.So if you are going to use this as a replacement, be careful and save your old parts.

Was a easy install and is working well.Idid do a modification to the part,i took the rubber boots off and put grease on the slide and this helps very much for a smoother operation,just replace the boots and you are ready to install and it is a easy modification,it also helps for years to come.I don"t understand why dorman does not do this to start with,oh well it is easy enough to do myself.I would buy it again if i had too.

Don’t believe the description. It shows made in the USA but when it was delivered it is made in China.

Appears exactly like the factory original. After replacing the broken unit with this one it now shifts better than it has since I've owned the truck. Watch a few different youtube videos on how to replace as it's fairly challenging depending on your mechanical aptitude and tool available. It took a massive amount of force, over 1450 foot pounds, and penetrating oil to get the primary pivot bolt off. Don't even try to get to this from below as the access is terrible. With the boot off, you can use a long extension and a socket based torx, then a massive torque driver. It takes a 1" socket (or torx bit, sorry didn't get the size) and then the other nut is 3/8". Oreilly Auto parts has a $8 kit with the right bushing for "shift linkages" that worked, but you need to make or get a special tool to put it on correctly. Also, I had to use a stuck screw kit (also from Amazon) to remove 3 of the 4 boot screws. The cheap one worked fine for 3, the fourth I just had to break. Not the most fun job in the world, but theoretically it was only 4 screws, two bolts, and a press on plastic linkage fitting.
