use it with a tv+laptop
Man do i love this idea. i wish i had gotten the bigger one tho... this was cheaper so it introduced me to the idea of remote controlling my laptop. i hook my laptop to my tv and watch. it has its perks.

Decent remote, not my favorite, and it has one annoying drawback
March 2025 Update - I feel the need to say this. without getting off topic i swapped out the Pluggable (which i love) USB hub this remote's adapter was plugged into, with another USB Hub (it is not the hub's fault) and one thing that changed too was the USB A to USB B cord .... so far with 4 starts of the box ... I have not had (famous last words) to unplug the hub/this remotes adapter and plug it back into the Android tv box ONCE ... so i am saying my issue that annoyed me with this remote ... may have been due to other hardware... I have to be fair about it.IF THAT is "fixed" ... my only other issue is I just wish the mouse (when you turn the on/off switch ON) was OFF by default .. .but that is not a big issue just hitting the button to turn it off thenSept 2024 Update: cant remember everything i wrote before and i am not re-reading it but here are a few points remembering what i think i said and what my experience has beenCons: - for me it still has to getting unplugged and plugged back in at the dongle ... i'd say 70% of the time for me (plugged into a Pluggable brand USB hub attached to an Android TV box... my Auvipal remotes never have this issue, but cheaper quality usb keyboards i used before this remote used to do that.not the worst thing in the world but I just wish the air mouse (when you switch it on via the little on/off switch) was OFF by default .... sometimes things go wonky as to what happens on the screen because i forget the air mouse is ON by default.Another thing is that the buttons are SOMETIMES sticking but usually hitting them another time or two get them to "pop back up"Pros - other than that and the fact I still overall like my Auvipal (no longer sold) remotes better ... this hasn't been terrible. I NEVER remember when i charge it, the charge lasts so long. I do admit the air mouse CAN get finikie at times, but overall I dont really have an issue with itthe on/off switch i felt is cheap if i remember and expected it to be an issue .. has been just fine.-------------------March 1, 2024 Update: I have been using this more than my AuvIpal (I love those remotes) remotes just to get use out of this and ... it has one key issue and that is EVERYTIME I turn the device on that the usb is plugged into.... i have to unplug and replug in the dongle ... at least 90% of the time if not 100% ... i can get behind my tv to the usb hub connected to my android box but still ... i shouldn't have to do this even if its an easy fix. Other than that .. I still like my AuviPal remotes better (that brand's air mouse option, seems more accurate/less sensitive... this air mouse seems to be super sensitive and flys all over the screen at times... like they need to turn the DPI down on it or something.)I have also been using the on/off button and so far ... NO issues with it... .I would only recommend this more than i use to (even with the problems i'd sort of recommend this .. or at least i WOULDN'T SAY "avoid this") due to most of the Auvipal remotes except for the air mouse competitor to this one, no longer being sold. Personally though even if this is on a lightning deal say for $15 .. I'd say spend the $20 and get the Auvipal air mouse option if its still available-------------------------------------DISCOVERY: I noticed an OLD Reiie (I think) mini keyboard connected to the same box "loses connection to it's usb dongle" too and has to be unplugged and replugged in to get it to work ... the ONE downside i list below with this remote MAY BE this remote's usb single and that mini keyboard (both plugged into the same device) 's signals mixing up or something .... I want to be totally fair to Rii and say that i can understand this problem and that one negative i had (I still like my Auvipal remotes better) i really had with this remote MAY BE explained now. And really it may be a "my use case only" sort of thing.------Update: I had it at a point where the "disconnection from the dongle" issue wasn't happening much, however, maining using my old Auvipal remote (which overall i like more, I admit) ... I finally started using this one again yesterday, figuring "this is a decent option too .. why not use it too?" .. well the dongle issue happened twice in a few hours (each time what it was plugged into was off) .... I have to keep going behind my TV and unplugging and replugging the dongle in ... EASY solution ... to a problem that shouldn't exist. This issue is NOT a deal breaker.... and if i didn't have Auvipal remotes that I think are better ... I'd still think more highly of this remote option, but it .... it is just annoying and to be fair none of my other usb remotes or mini keyboards (including other Rii products) do this with the same android tv box. ... it's exclusively this remote from my experience so far.I CANT bring myself to say "I dont recommend this" ... but just ... There is a better option out there that I like better (AuviPal products)---------------------Original review -This is my review after about 3 or so days of using this Rii K25 remote with my android TV box. I have to say this has been a mixed bag experience, though GENERALLY I am happy with it, I can not rule out a return over an issue I will get to later.I have to say I have had (and still have) a number of Rii related mini-keyboards and/or remotes and most still work… the one that broke (not counting the plastic tab holding the battery in, broke) could just need a new battery though those seem to be the same price as a new mini-keyboard so I haven’t tested that yet.I am purchased this remote to “replace” a Rii MX3 2.4GHz air remote that mind you still works great, … I just got sick of going through so many AAA batteries with it.Things I wish this remote had:- a Backlight,- more programmable buttons. The backlight issue I was under NO IMPRESSION that it had … I was not fooled or mislead. I accepted that it had no backlight when purchasing. I also have custom buttons via the “Keymap editor” addon in Kodi … (one of my main use-cases) that I can not use without messing up the key combos on other remotes for the same device. THIS WAS my fault …. maybe the more programmable buttons thing would help with this, but until I went to program the buttons, I overlooked this issue. The big problem:I don’t want to go overboard with this but in 3 days this has happened 3 times. It keeps losing connection with the dongle. The middle orange OK button, I have programmed to turn my android box on or off … that always seems to work, but the only way to get the remote to work again is to go behind my TV to the android box and unplug the dongle and plug it back in again. This is very annoying, though I don’t want to go overboard on “how terrible” this is.The good:- the air mouse: compared to the MX3 which I got use to the cursor sometimes flying across the screen and then I’d have to turn the air mouse off and back on again after readjusting my hand/where the cursor is …. this K25 seems to have a lower DPI or something (guessing) which gives me MUCH more control over the air mouse feature and I love that. It feels so much more natural then how fast the MX3 cursor can move- build quality: I will say I think the AuviPad remote I have is built just a little better, I have also (seller once shipped me a wrong, “off brand” keyboard, that was not what I ordered) seen mini-keyboards that look like some Reiie H9 keyboards that I have had before that but the quality on this knock-off was CHEAP. This is NOT that level of “not as good”, to be clear.I can not speak for long term longevity but this seems somewhat well built for a cheap (say sub $25 I mean) remote.Sleep Mode: I unfornately cant say I have used this for long enough to judge this or the battery life (with or without the power switch on/off), but it does have an “auto-sleep” mode and IF THIS is actually doing anything (only gadge is the light on the remote turns off after 30 seconds of no button presses or air mouse movement) … then credit where it’s due … this is a nice feature.I have to also say that I have not noticed any big lag when I “wake the remote up” from this mode (again if its actually “alseep, saving battery life”) … things seem to wake up fairly “instantly” in my view.Comparison to Auvipad remote:While I don’t have the air mouse model (yet) … I have a Bluetooth Auvipad remote and after a year and say 4 months… that has been my go-to remote … I may even order another one of those AND the air mouse model too (though a BT version WITH an air mouse in one is what I’d really want) as a backup while they are still sold.I think this K25 is bult well for now … I think the Auvipad is built just a little better. For a comparison I can’t compare features like the air mouse though given some good experience with the Bluetooth Auvipad and issues with this K25 already … I think for ABOUT the same price (18.99 for this K25, 19.99 for the Auvipad air mouse version) .. I’d go with the Auvipad. I DO have to admit I got this for the base price of $14.99 on a lightning deal, though.Con (no big deal really): I wish the air mouse would not be turned on when you flip the on/off switch on. I wish it’s default when you turn the remote on, was “air mouse off” as the default but its not a huge deal to hit the button to be honest.Overall:I cant say where I stand on this now and this is mainly due to the unpairing from the dongle issue I described?… did I get a “lemon” that is only a problem sometimes?I cant say I can recommend (due to that issue, but even with some quirks I can look past) or “I’d avoid” this remote. Like I said if you want a remote with a dongle and an air mouse for FULL PRICE, I’d pay a $1 (base price) more and get a Auvipad remote. For say $4 cheaper on lightning deal, I’d give this remote a higher ranking in my head if that USB Dongle issue didn’t keep happening. While you can do better than this remote like I said … you can do worse and maybe even pay more.I’d give this a 3.0 to 3.5 (not getting crazy with the decimal ratings) … the USB dongle issue bringing this down. If not I may not give it a 4.0+ but I’d give it a 3.5 to 3.75 at least. SOME issues I have like the programmable buttons + Kodi thing are ONLY specific to me and my setup … if I didn’t use any other remotes for the same device, this would NOT be an “issue” so I cant really knock this K25 for that.

Easy to use and works great.
This is plug and play and works perfect. I've gotten it to copy IR codes from multiple different remotes without issue.

Works well with Kodi with some tweaks but could use some improvements
I bought this to use with Kodi and nextPVR installed on my HTPC. The Top 5 orange buttons are programmable IR buttons, they learn the codes of an existing controller you have. No way as far as I can tell to program them manually, so if you don’t have the original remote you want to copy, you are out of luck. I programmed them to turn on and off my Sony Bravia TV, as well as change the input and volume. While this works, the RII remote IR blaster is significantly weaker than the original Sony remote. I have trouble from 12 feet away using it, have to reach way out and press multiple times. Seems to work OK from about half that distance, so I will usually turn on the TV, change the input, and adjust the volume before going to go sit down. Otherwise, I’ll just use the original remote. These are the other 2.4 Ghz buttons that communicate with the PC on the front of the remote:Direction wheel: same as keyboard direction arrowsOK button, left mouse click (if air mouse is turned on) or keyboard enter key (if air mouse is off)PgUp/PgDn: same as Page Up/Down keys on keyboardApp list: same as app list on keyboard (key usually to left of right control key, looks like arrow pointing to menu list)Power button: same as sleep button on computer or keyboardRemaining 9 buttons are standard keyboard multimedia buttons:APPCOMMAND_BROWSER_BACKWARD = 1 (or right click if air mouse turned on)APPCOMMAND_BROWSER_SEARCH = 5APPCOMMAND_BROWSER_HOME = 7APPCOMMAND_VOLUME_MUTE = 8APPCOMMAND_VOLUME_DOWN = 9APPCOMMAND_VOLUME_UP = 10APPCOMMAND_MEDIA_NEXTTRACK = 11APPCOMMAND_MEDIA_PREVIOUSTRACK = 12APPCOMMAND_MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE = 14In Kodi when watching a recording the next track button does nothing, and the previous track starts the video from the beginning. I would rather have those buttons fast forward and rewind in Kodi, below is what I did to get that to work:Use the Kodi Keymap Editor Add-on (installed from repository):Settings->Add-ons->Program add-ons->Keymap Editor->Run->Edit->Global->Playback->Fast Forward/Rewind->Edit Key (then press the RII remoter next/previous track key to map)Cancel back to main Keymap Editor window then click Saveor edit (or create) the below file:%APPDATA%\Kodi\userdata\gen.xml<keymap><global><keyboard><key id="53259">fastforward</key><key id="53260">rewind</key></keyboard></global></keymap>The home button launches the default web browser, and the search button brings up the Windows search box. I wanted the home button to launch Kodi, and the search button to launch Google chrome. Below are the registry changes I made on Windows to make that work:To change the multimedia Home button to launch Kodi vice open default Web browser, add/edit below registry key:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AppKey\7]Name Type DataShellExecute REG_SZ "C:\Program Files\Kodi\Kodi.exe"To change the multimedia Search button to launch Google Chrome vice open Windows search box, add/edit below registry key:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AppKey\5]Name Type DataShellExecute REG_SZ "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe"Also, if I accidently pressed the sleep button it would cause problems in Kodi. I couldn’t find any way to use that key for something else, so I disabled it:To disable the sleep button on the controller:Control Panel->Power Options->Choose what the power buttons do->When I press the sleep button->Do nothingAs far as the remote itself, it seems to work well. There is no backlight (one of the few reviews with pics clearly shows it having a backlight). The thing I don’t like the most about the remote is that it goes to sleep after 2 minutes. This is extremely annoying since you have to press a button to wake it up, then press the button again to get it to do something. I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse, and I keep them on all the time. The batteries in the keyboard last for several years and the ones in the mouse several months. Maybe they could just make the mouse go to sleep, and if you press a key wake up then actually send the keystroke. Would be nice if you could change the sleep timeout or even disable it. Also, would have been nice if they included software to reprogram the buttons, that way you don’t have to worry about trying to figure out a way to do it in an app or edit the registry.Pros:- Can do everything you need to operate Kodi including turning on the TV- Rechargeable batteries and included USB cableCons:- No software to customize what buttons do- Annoying sleep timer- No backlight- Weak IR transmitter

The K25 is here to solve your problems!
This thing is killing me, making me have to buy another so I can have one on a separate machine too. Ive had this for about a year, I could never remove this from my living room computer/racing sim, it is hands down one of the coolest devices you can get to fulfill this role. I need to buy a whole 'nother one for my bedroom tv/other computer.Important info:You get 5 IR clone buttons, you face the TV remote up to it and you can grab a few, I did power, input, volume up/down, and enter. Dongle is goofy looking because it's a usba male->usb mini(charger for remote) ->usba female(dongle sits here). Also, it may be counter-intuitive at first, but the air mouse feature is GYRO, NOT LASER. It doesn't function like a laser pointer, it just tracks the movement.Pros:-Wireless-Charger and dongle are same device.-Keyboard with most functions-Mouse is pretty sensitive-Everyone looks silly the first time because they think it works like a laser pointer-about 2 weeks of battery on regular useCons:-Dongle looks silly-A pc power off option on the face that accidentally can be pressed(it's actually sleep, thank god)-When it's low power it likes to be finicky about keyboard-Keyboard is more likely to ghost if you don't hit the lock Mouse before flipping it over.Thing is dope. You need one. You might want more than 1....
