I like SMALL for the G.B Wildlife Hatchet
R.O.G suggests a medium for the Wildlife Hatchet but after measuring the handle I chose a small and glad I did. With a small the handle will not drop right into the holster, there is a slight resistance at the swell. No problem though and if you "rock" it the axe will drop right in. What I like about the small it keeps the axe from moving around as much and it doesn't look big & goofy since the handle is much thinner at the shoulder then the swell. UPDATE: I just tightly wrapped "11 strand paracord" as a guard and the holster easily slips over top. Yes, small is definitely the way to go for the G.B. hatchet. Holster is beautiful, thick, strong leather. The one piece design with 4 big rivets makes it tough. A little pricy especially after adding shipping since there is no free shipping option. Still, the quality makes it worth the price. I attached photos to show fitment both WITH and WITHOUT the paracord guard.

Very nice construction....used exactly this kind of thing for 10 years...hammering rocks for a living.
These are hard to find...or used to be. The medium is good for regular 1.5 lb hand hatchet, or rock hammer. It fits.a handle with a maximum 1 7/8 palm swell. It goes in with one hand but needs two to pull out. Won't fall off your belt even if it turns on you. The large one I got for a Granfor Bruks small hand splitter.. It fits perfectly... one hand in or out.and strong enough for a 2 1/2 lb head like I have on my long handled "bear" hammer. You can clip your handy dandy aluminum map-holder to it with the right carabiner... mount a small "hanger" on the aluminum backing with some "chicago screws" or something like it.

ROG handmade hatchet holster
I saw this product reviewed in You Tube and the videos do not do this product justice. First of all this is a high quality very thick one piece of leather, uses high quality brass rivets, completely waterproof with sheepfoot and mink oils. The design is great it holds my Husquarvana hatchet securely and stable while walking. It may be a little pricey but then again you get what you pay for this is high quality holster that will be passed on to my grandson one day !

Solid!
You get what you pay for and I definitely got that! Solid one piece design, thick leather, and firmly secured together. Worked very well with my tomahawk and hatchet, much more comfortable than tucking inside of your belt. It makes them much easier to access this way too. Great piece of craftsmanship!

Awesome product. Made in the U.S.A
I bought this for my council tool 19” wood craft pack axe. It fits perfectly. Very well made. I am very impressed with it. I highly recommend it. It was delivered very quickly.

Very well made
Very well-made and comfortable to wear. Works well. I would advise any purchaser to check to see whether the axe or hatchet handle hangs below the knee, if so absolutely forget about purchasing this item. These sort of belt loops can hold a hatchet or axe that is short enough to hang beside the thigh, but anything longer will strike the calf as you are walking and is hopeless. Just some advice for anyone who thinks they are going to use this item to carry a two-handed ask or hatchet. A great item.

You need this
Ok, what do you do once you set up camp? You go get fire wood. Once you get the wood you have to carry the wood and try to carry the axe/hatchet with it. I put this on the back of my belt and then have two hands to carry a full load of wood. I never have to leave my axe and then go back for it, or try to carry my axe with my load. It is very well made and comes in different sizes. Yeah, you need this.
