Does it have strong chemical smell?

I washed it before use. I don't remember a strong smell.

Does it make a crinkly noise?

Not that I have noticed. I am using it on a hospital bed for an elderly client.

Hiw many cups if liquid will it absorb?

Have no idea, I would think several, I used them with my mom & dad when I cared for them & my mom peed alot & it always held but you have to make sure they are in the middle of it!
