Texas Road & Recreation Atlas 2nd Edition
G**.
Essential
Essential for traveling on main roads annd off the beaten path. Especially when in an area with no cell signal. Lots of helpful designations too — cemeteries, campgrounds, etc. I wouldn’t adventure without it.

Excellent, current atlas for anyone exploring Texas
I almost bought the first Benchmark TX atlas, but held off after reading some valid criticisms. Decided to see if the second edition had landed, and it did just that recently. Got the hot-off-the-press version today and spent some time perusing it to gauge accuracy of content. From my brief time looking, this version should serve most anyone seeking to travel TX on major highways OR backroads. And, Benchmark loads its atlas with useful information for anyone seeking camping, public lands or other attractions. My professional career included 30 years of traveling and promoting TX tourism, the last 15 years as an editor of the state's travel magazine; as well as helping with its other publications including the highway map. Texas, with almost 270,000 square miles, and roughly 80,000 miles of state highways, has proven difficult to keep its map current. Benchmark seems to have risen to meet that challenge with this atlas. As an aside, IF you need current travel conditions on the state's highways, visit drivetexas.org. TxDOT does an incredible job of keeping real-time travel conditions on this site so anyone needing to travel during stormy conditions can see if their route will work, or not.

Perfect Trip Planner
I like to map out routes the old school way. Helps you get the larger scope of highways and byways. This is perfect. Large, spiral bound, and copious amount of region, area, and city maps.
