An excellent camera that is an ideal first wildlife camera.
The media could not be loaded. I have been using wildlife cameras for many years, since resolution was 240 pixels, and they just continue to get better.Field of View:Something most buyers won't consider, but it is important. This one has about the right field of view. It is not too wide that everything feels in the distance, while not being so telephoto that you can't aim it accurately.Picture Quality:Excellent. It uses onboard software to sharepen the image a bit whicvh gives it a very vibrant look without having to be edited.Triggering time:Adequate, but you do need to have the side sensors turned on in the menu. Siting the camera is important. Like all wildlife cameras it reacts better to animals coming across the camera's field of view rather than towards it.Night Vision:Very bright, while still being of a wavelength that is invisible to animals.Sound:The sound is clear too, as the clip below will show you.Negatives:The down side to the physical design of the camera is that the tripod mount is on the back half of the camera so you can't open it to aim it if you have it mounted to a camera stake that uses a tripod fitting.Occasionally it loses the date and time for no apparent reason so it is worth checking that each time you change the batteries. One issue that might affect you is frame rate. When I import clips to Davinci Resolve (video editor) I find that roughly one in five clips shows no picture, but has sound. This is because the camera seems to switch to a high variable peak frame rate which that video editor does not support. Its not a huge problem as I just drag and drop the clips into Handbrake and re-encode them at 30fps, but it might be an issue on other video editors too so I am mentioning it here. It is not anything that would drop it from five stars.Battery advice:I run mine on low self discharge rate rechargeable NiMH cells because alkalines don't last long in cold weather. The rechargable batteries run for many days. They have never gone flat before I got round to checking the SD card. This is the opposite of the advice in the instruction manual.Set up:You can use the camera straight out of the box, but I would recommend going through the menus. Set the date, time, turn on side detection, extend length of clip from 30 seconds. I have mine set at 2 minutes. Set the activation time to more than ten seconds. This stops the camera reactivating all the time if it is seeing a tree move in the wind. Conclusion:Overall an excellent camera that is an ideal first wildlife camera. I wish cameras like this had existed ten or 15 years ago at this price.

Easy to use, clear instructions, works well.
The media could not be loaded. Great little camera, significantly more user friendly than the one I bought back in 2015. Been running on 8 regular rechargeable AA batteries for a couple of weeks now. Bought to monitor effectiveness of fencing to keep muntjac deer out of the garden. Will be interesting to see what other wildlife it captures.

I would buy again
Overall I think this is a good buy and good value for money. Everything seems to work as it should. The only thing I think that would suit my situation better is having a wider angle of view for my small garden. I use it to find out what is digging up my garden to plan preventative action. Sure enough we have mice, rats, squirrels and pidgins all being disruptive.

Was I expecting too much?
I have increased my rating now to 5 stars from the original 3 stars. In my original review I commented on the poor video quality in darkness and after about five weeks of use I decided to contact GardePro via email to ask for their guidance......I had seen another review where the reviewer had 5 cameras and 2 were replaced as not as good as the other 3.After explaining the issue GardePro asked me sent some of my videos for them to assess.Within a day or two they responded to say the IR LEDs were not functioning properly and within another couple days I had received a replacement unit which is brilliant.....very good illumination and clear nighttime videos. While there may be an issue with the consistency of quality with this product I would not hesitate to recommend it as a good one is very good and the customer support, in my experience, as been quite excellent.Well done GardePro!A relatively budget camera that needs the memory card/camera to be linked to my Mac to get acceptable video playback : the small screen on the camera as pretty useless for playing back your videos.....but for the price I am happy with that.Little niggles are that the batteries are fiddly to remove and if you don't want to lose the date/time settings make sure you switch batteries quickly.I purchased the camera primarily to watch the hedgehogs at night and the camera has certainly enabled me to do that. However, while on the highest quality video setting the picture quality is good in daylight and dusky light but in darkness the video quality is very grainy : certainly worse than I had expected from reading the spec. for the camera,The range of decent illumination is only 4 metres or so with the best videos taken just a metre or so from the feeding station. The detection delay is set to zero seconds but there is a delay of a second or two I would say.I started off using 1.2v rechargeable batteries and wondered if this was the cause of the video performance but having now fitted lithium 1.5v rechargeable batteries I can see no discernible improvement, although the battery life between charges is much better.I have not yet taken photo shots and expect maybe the picture quality will be better for these.I was tempted to give the camera four stars as for the price it is pretty good but as I wanted it primarily for nighttime video and the quality of this is pretty average I can only give it three stars.Have I got a bad one, was I expecting too much?......I don't know but I hope people find this review helpful.

Excellant camera with good customer support
Having change my trail camera's over from other makes to GardePro A3S trail camera's over the last few years I have found them to have a good battery life, easy to set up and provide good day and night time video clips. Over time two have had proplems one a screen fault and another moisture in the lens. On both occasions from reporting the faults replacement cameras were sent by return.
