Q: Is the full size hyper better bang for the buck? what would i be missing if i go with the mini?

Compressors are kind of funny beasts. I find the less knobs the better. This mini pedal sounds great. Meaning it can help your sound provided you are not just trying to be louder than everyone else. Usually you can just cut some frequencies on your instrument and still find some space within the band. This pedal works nice on acoustic guitar and bass. On electric guitar I find just turning up volume usually works. But hey, every ear is different. Generally most players need to work on tuning and turning down distortion. IF you are planning to use this pedal along with some kind of overdrive or gain situation then this is the wrong pedal. EQ is your compression at that point.

Q: How does this work with Bass guitars?

Sorry, I've never tried it on a bass guitar. I can say it's a great (perfect!) compressor used on guitars only.
