Worked like a charm
Installed in my x1 carbon gen 8. Installation was a pain in the arse though. Mobo and battery had to be removed. And there are at least 50 (literally) tiny screws holding the keyboard in place. Took awhile to install, but brought my system back to life and feels just as good as the original. Backlight DOES NOT work (nor does the OS change the backlight), but all keys do work.

Works perfectly (disassembling and reassembling the laptop was challenging)
The keyboard looks and works perfectly.Buy a laptop repair toolkit and watch YouTube videos! But it is doable and very rewarding.

Nonfunctional, and a different color
I bought a refurbished Thinkpad X1 Carbon with a keyboard in rough shape. Ordered this as a replacement and spent SO LONG swapping it out, only for it to be unusable.Pressing Shift plus another key would activate an adjacent key, e.g. Shift+A would give "ZA" and Shift+; would give ":{". Couldn't type "|" at all.The mouse buttons are a much much lighter grey than is pictured. My laptop is all black and these stick out so bad, almost would be enough to return the keyboard even if it worked in the first place!

Perfect replacement for X1 gen4
The product headline said it was for gen 4 and gen 5, but the options to choose from said gen 7 and 8, however, it was a perfect replacement for my gen 4 keyboard. It was a slightly different model number keyboard, but same quality, same layout, and same ribbon cables to plug it back in. The keys work perfectly, and the led backlight is identical and works great. Fast shipping too.

It works, but there are issues
The three buttons at the top of the touchpad don't work. I usually don't use these so it took a bit to discover. I had a few issues with the keyboard being unresponsive after the laptop resumes from suspend. Not sure whether it's a software or hardware issue. Have had other cases where the keyboard buffer appears to get filled with a single character.So far after doing a software (kernel) update and reseating the connections, and disabling the trackpoint in the BIOS, the buffer and suspend issues seem to have subsided. The non-functional keys persist hower.Overall the replacement process wasn't too difficult. The keyboard (mostly) works on my Gen8 X1.

Not genuine. Also looks different from the original.
Did not like the look of the keys. May work for some, but I decided to return it and not waste my time installing it.
