OMG!!! Legit Yixing Teapot Seller
I am at total awe here, so bear with me. Let me first begin by saying that this is a totally LEGIT seller of Yixing Purple Clay teapots used for traditional Chinese Tea tasting! If you don't know what they are, google them. If you are expecting English teapots, they are not those, they are sooo much better. So, for anyone who doesn't know about purple clay teapots, they are the *finenest* teapots for tea tastings, ceremony and collection. Yixing is the holy grail location for purple clay teapot production (think Yixing is for purple clay teapots as Jingdezhen is for porcelain, Myanmar for jadeite, Hawaii for Kona coffee). Generations of artisans congregate to Yixing to keep the teapot making tradition and bring it to the next level, and a teapot from grandmaster artisans are highly sought after and very collectable. Obviously, this is not a teapot from a grandmaster, but it is nevertheless a handcrafted one from a Yixing artisan! So how do I know that the seller is legit, you ask?!? The teapot I got was wrapped in the newspaper printed from Yixing!!! The box it was delivered in was also a makeshift one from two boxes. I fell in love when I saw that. That's how the locals would do it -- finest details in the artwork itself, totally sloppy on the packaging. Why shouldn't they? They are artisans selling their work from their workshop. They won't have the flashy packagings that we would just immediately throw away anyways. In fact, I would imagine a properly trained artisan despising them, as they are a total waste and burden on the environment.LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!! Thank you to the store owner for bringing this authentic Chinese artform to the US at such a reasonable price. And in case you are wondering, the makeshift packaging and the newspaper kept my new favorite teapot in perfect condition during transport.

Great handsome authentic product.
I am a picky black tea drinker. Only drink brewed tea and never a tea bag. Always new clay tea pots are to tea like wood barrels are to wine. The tea buildup into the clay makes the tea taste a lot better. Just wished there was one a bit larger. This makes only enough tea for four cups.
