A different approach to GR by a great teacher. Enjoyed every bit of this text.

This is a readable, concise survey of General Relativity, based on class notes taken at Sidney Coleman's lectures in the late 1960's. The lead editor, David Griffiths, was one of those notetakers. While I am still not up to all the math in order to take in the equations in detail, I still gleaned a lot from reading through the entire book. Part I covers Special Relativity, Relativistic Mechanics, and Relativistic Electrodynamics using mathematical tools and conventions that are employed later in Part II on GR. Part I is worth it for this perspective even if you plan to postpone delving into GR. The production values, including printing, figures, and equations are top notch. The text is a fully professional authoring job. I recognize the style of the lead editor, David Griffiths, an experienced text book author (I have three of his).

Not for everyone of course, but it’s really within the reach of anyone willing to put in a little mathematical effort. And when one does it pays back tenfold or more. Up there with Wheeler’s “Spacetime Physics” as an intro and a great supplement to Hartle’s “Gravity” and Zee’s “Einstein Gravity in a Nutshell.”
