The media could not be loaded. These anvil-type secateurs have a ratchet mechanism, similar to those found on tree loppers and some other pruners, designed to aid in cutting thicker branches and for weak hands. They seem to be reasonable well-made, with a thin but accurately-ground carbon steel cutting blade, cast aluminium alloy handles, enamelled black, and a plastic grip and blade lock. Rather than relying on a strong spring to open the blades, one handle has a loop, with one hole for the index finger and an extended one for the other three. Even so, it's a stretch to open the blades sufficiently for some branches that technically are within the parameters. When cutting, you don't feel fully in control of the operation. Sometimes the blade holds in the cut, sometimes not. Sometimes the ratchet works, sometimes not. These pruners can help to cut through 'thick' branches by moving the fulcrum, as it were, but it's a bit of a lottery. I tried them on a rose, and managed to cut out several 'dead' stems, with some difficulty, and none close to the 25mm claimed. The lemon tree stems really were woody, and the thicker ones were too much for the cutting blade. It did happily snip the thinner ones, but without much help from the ratchet. I don't really like these much, but others may disagree.

Powerful and sharp cutters.
The media could not be loaded. First impression:👀 The cutters look the part with the black finish and rubber handle. They fit comfortably in the hand and the finger holes in the guard will fit even the largest of fingers. There is a hole in the handle for handing the shears on a hook, although I am not sure how long this will last as the handle material is quite soft.Application:🔧 I had a little struggle to get them open, but squeezing the handle and pulling back on the safety catch worked. The shears are even-handed and the safety catch works equally for right and left-handed people. I really liked the ratchet action and this enabled me to cut through small branches with relative ease, even when they were dry.Packaging and delivery:📦 ♻️ The shears come in blister top retail packaging and arrived quickly.Pros:✔️ Sharp.✔️ Ratchet action makes cutting small branches easier.✔️ The safety catch is a little tough to get open, but this is a good thing!✔️ Comfortable to use.✔️ Safe enclosure for fingers.Cons:❌ None really.Conclusion:✅ These shears are easily a class above my existing shears with the good safety catch and powerful cutting action. I would be tempted to put my existing ones in the bin now that I have these. A sharp cutting action is important to minimize damage to the plant and these shears work well in that regard. Reasonable value and recommended.
