Statistics for the utterly confused!
I like how it breaks down every step of a statistical process. It gives you an example at every step. It provides problems that you can work on to test your knowledge of the material. It's very helpful in learning a math that looks different and confusing! I pair its use with YouTube videos, and Khan Academy.

This book helped me pass the DSST.
CollegePlus said this book was required reading for studying for the DSST Statistics. After going through it, there is little wonder why they should say so. The topics are presented in a clear, logical format. The terms and concepts, for the most part, are explained very well. The only qualm I have with it is its lack of explanation in the given examples. They show little work/reasoning in the examples. However, the examples and exercises are usually very simple and straightforward, so this is not a very serious problem. I only recall one section in which it was a serious problem: namely, the section on quartiles and finding the inter-quartile range (IQR) in Chapter 2. I thought I understood what they said about it pretty well, but when I tried the exercises, I could not get the answer that they did, no matter what I tried. I could not figure out how they did the calculations. It seemed to me that they did not mean what I thought they did on how to find the quartiles and IQR. Anyway, in all the other general topics in statistics, it was very good. After going through this book, I was able to pass the DSST Principles of Statistics exam with flying colors. Those who would take the same test should get this book.

Excellent book for beginners. Quality of images in kindle version could use improvement though.
This is an excellent book for beginners, there are plenty of examples and exercises. My only minor complaint and warning to other is that there are some typos in the kindle version that appear to be caused by how the electronic file was created, and it sometime displays incorrectly the symbols for >=, <=, and +/- among others. Another minor complaint is that the resolution of the images is not the best, especially those that contain formulas, so when zooming in, all the text is enlarged appropriately but the images that contain formulas and math symbols get blurry due to their low resolution, which makes it a bit hard to read. Aside from those details I highly recommend this book for beginners.

Excellent But......
This book was recommended by my Master Black Belt when I took the Lean Six Sigma exam prep course. As I understand it, there is no better book out there. I had statistics in college and consider myself above average in math. The book breaks Statistics down into logical segments and presents them as Chapters. There are a large number of questions at the end of each chapter and the concepts are tested for in depth. There are True/False, short answer, multiple choice and word questions. The correct answers are given for each question. However, there were several times where my mutliple choice answer was correct but my numerical answer did not match. In some cases this turned out to be rounding error, in other cases my application of the concepts was incorrect. I would like to see detail or supporting information for the multiple choice and word questions.

The BEST book for Statstitics!!!
I had put off getting my BSN because I had to take Statistics, and I was dreading it. I purchased multiple references to help me through it-The "for Dummies" book, the "for Idiots" book, but nothing compared to this book. It helped out the most with those confusing concepts and formulas. It broke the terminology down to simple, easy to understand facts without making it sound as if you just started reading yesterday. I liked the book so much, I purchased another for a friend of mine who was also struggling with the class. If you are looking at references, and help, and are considering this as well as the previously mentioned series of books, I would highly recommend this one. The others have been shelved, and this one sits beside my textbook on my desk.

Needs Housecleaning
Looked at using this to teach the material. Wording is sloppy. For example, no distinction is made between population standard deviation and sample standard deviation; population mean and sample average. Terms are constantly mixed back and forth. Over 1/4 of the solutions to the problems are incorrect. Problems are very fragmented when they don't need to be. One problem incorporating several questions would be a better structure, but this is subjective, I know. After putting over 100 hours work into this book, I gave up on using it for class and moved on. The book needs a major housecleaning. To their credit, they do make the material easy to read, which is probably why it's in the 2nd printing.

goos book, but kindle version not the best
While this is a really good book for people who are dumbfounded by statistics (like me), I didn't care for the kindle version. I used it to try and study from tests to see what I had done wrong, but without an interactive table of contenets, I was left to guess what location to start at in the book. I still ended up going out and buying the paper version for easier use to study for my finals, easier to go back and forth between sections.

I was utterly confused
My last math class was 7 years ago... so maybe an online statistics class wasn't the best idea. I was in a bad place in terms of my stats course until I got this book. It filled in many of the blanks the textbook glazed over(and vice versa at times). All I can say is I got an A in the course with much help from this book. It was straight and to the point in its explanations saving me the time of wading through the unfortunately wordy textbook. I'd buy it again and obviously recommend it.
