Ultimate Guide of Buying Refurbished Macbooks on Amazon
I’m really happy with this purchase. I received the 32-core version, and the battery health is around 90%. Aside from some shine on the keyboard, the machine is basically flawless with almost no scratches. 1. Yes — even in 2025, this is still a very powerful laptop. 2. You can choose “other sellers,” but I personally went with Sold and Shipped by Amazon. It took a few extra days, but it was worth it. I’m pretty sure the unit I got has never been repaired or opened — all the screws look brand-new, and the system was still on an August 2024 version. I feel like Amazon just cleaned it, wiped the data, and put it into storage, which is exactly what I wanted cause it lets me see the laptop’s true condition. I don’t trust third-party “refurbished” units cause you never really know what repairs were done, what parts they used, or whether you’ll actually receive something in “excellent” condition. 3. Based on other reviews, it seems like Amazon mixes the 24-core and 32-core GPU models together, so you won’t know which one you’ll get until it arrives. Unless you have very specific needs, getting the 24-core version isn’t a big deal — you won’t notice a difference in daily use unless you’re a true professional user or someone who actually plays games on a Mac (pls dont). 4. After it arrives, you should check the display (it’s extremely expensive to replace — if there’s any dead pixels, I recommend returning it) and make sure the keyboard is fine. You can check your GPU core count and battery cycles in System Report. Then definitely run Apple Diagnostics to make sure there’s no hardware issues. If you’re extra cautious, you can test your SSD speed with Blackmagic and run Geekbench to confirm CPU/GPU performance. 5. Mine came with a 96W charger that looks original but has no branding, plus a USB-C cable. 96W can’t fully support this laptop under maximum load, but it’s definitely enough for everyday use. The USB-C ports on this machine only go up to 100W, so if you want to actually hit 140W charging, you’ll need a 140W power adapter and a MagSafe cable. 6. On the older MacBooks, the design basically forced you to replace the entire top case for repairs, but this generation has been redesigned. You can replace keycaps or the battery much more easily. If you’ve ever owned a MacBook with a Touch Bar, you know exactly what I mean. Overall, this was a great deal for me. I compared and researched for quite a while before buying, and eventually chose the “Sold by Amazon” option. The only thing that worried me was noticing reviews after I checked out saying some people received the 24-core version.

Awesome Buy!
The MacBook arrived quicker and in better condition than I expected. The seller shipped it from a nearby location, and it was delivered the next day. The MacBook came with an aluminum-look skin, which I didn’t mind for the first few hours—but I ultimately decided to peel it off. I was pleasantly surprised to find only minor scratches on the top lid, which you’d have to look closely to even notice. There was also very light keyboard wear, but after a quick cleaning, it was barely visible. The screen is in perfect condition, and the ports appear to have been barely used. Battery health is at 86%, which isn’t bad. Since this is a 16" model with a larger battery, it actually lasts a bit longer per charge than my previous 13" MacBook Pro M1. The MacBook came with a generic 140W power adapter and MagSafe-to-USB-C cable. I had hoped for a genuine Apple charger, but I’ve been using my own 65W Apple adapter, and it works great. Spec-wise, I received exactly the chip and RAM configuration I ordered. As a bonus, I was shipped a model with 2TB of storage—sweet! Overall, despite the battery being at 86% and receiving a non-Apple power adapter, this has been an incredible purchase and experience. I'm glad I bought from Macs Depot. 10/10!

works like new! Great Product, great service!
The computer works perfectly. I was a little nervous to go with refurbished, but very happy I did. It works as if it were brand new, and I saved a good amount of money. Also, the computer is in practically perfect condition. Just one minor scratch on the keyboard, but everything works, and they sent the computer with an exterior case and a keyboard cover which was a nice surprise. I usually dont take time to write reviews, but I am very happy with the purchase.

It is my civic duty to warn you not to buy from Smart Resale CA
After returning from a 6 month international film trip, my old Mac died and I thought I lost all the footage. Fortunately it was backed up, but I literally had to launch a crowd funding campaign to help fund a new computer. A month later, I finally had enough money to get a new computer and I made sure to buy from Smart Resale CA because they had better reviews compared to the other company that is included in this listing (Amazon should be more transparent about that, because if you don’t know to look for it, you’ll miss the fact you can have multiple sellers under one listing). So I get the MacBook M1 Max, and it’s perfect for a week, and then the screen suddenly glitches out one day, crashes, and when I turn it back on, all I get a blurred out screen. Eventually it started up properly, but this time had horizontal lines across the display. After contacting them to see if they could they could send a replacement or do something to help ensure I’m not without a computer again for weeks once I return it, they said the only thing they could do is ensure they refunded me as soon as it arrived back to them. So I send it back, 4 days later it arrives to them on a Friday early afternoon. I wasn’t able to view the screen (even over HDMI) after resetting it before returning and so I contacted them to make sure they properly wipe it (Putting a lot of faith and trust that my wipe worked and that they’ll do it again properly to ensure no information is recovered and stollen). That alone is enough reason alone for why I would never another MacBook off Amazon without being able to get Apple Care (which you can’t with these given the year and the fact it’s being sold by rando 3rd party companies). So they were responsive throughout the weekend and this whole process which I’ll give them credit for, but when I asked for my refund they send me some BS today (Monday) saying that were off work Friday and through the weekend, and that they do their best to process refunds as quickly as possible (despite still messaging me every single day throughout the weekend, and explicitly stating that they would process the refund immediately after receiving the computer). So now, I’m going on over a week without the refund being processed (not accounting for the delay back to my card once they do submit it), and every day that this goes on, is another day I’m loosing money and longer my money is held up before I can buy a new computer. This isn’t a $20 supplement, it’s a $2,000 computer that most people are likely buying for work and need to work. The fact Amazon doesn’t have a better system for ensuring there are big waiting periods for either customers or seller with high ticket items like this is astonishing, but the fact is, it’s a toss up if you will get a faulty computer, and if you do, just know, that Smart Resale will not make it easy for you to return or replace, and you can’t get Apple care, so if you’re computer dies after the return window closes, you are going to be out half the cost of the computer. Hope this helps save someone $2000 and weeks of headache and time loss.

It really made me happy
Before purchasing a refurbished MacBook, I was worried about quality issues. I read many reviews from previous buyers, and some of them really left me at a loss, fearing that they might cause unnecessary troubles and subsequent problems after the purchase. This is a good reminder. Of course, there were more positive comments, which were also more objective, true and positive, strengthening my confidence in purchasing It has been two weeks since I received this M1 MAX 64G MacBook, the brand-new 140W power adapter equipped with the MacBook, and the magsafe to usb-c cable. After receiving the MacBook, I carefully observed its appearance and found a few acceptable minor scratches. After turning on the device, I checked the system information. Among them, the battery can be charged in 40 cycles and its capacity can reach 99%. I installed the commonly used apps and all the programs ran normally. Then I upgraded the system to macOS Tahoe. The speed measured by the speed test software was many times faster than that of my previous MacBook. The time for processing videos was saved by 80%. The performance of this MAX really satisfied me In the previous comments, I saw that some buyers mentioned that the M1 MAX with 64G memory and 1TSSD was upgraded to 2T. I also enjoyed this treatment. Here, I would like to express my special thanks to the seller for upgrading the SSD to 2T. It really made me happy

Good, but not “excellent.”
So, this was sold as being in “excellent” condition. For the most part, it is, but it has a few obvious imperfections that I think make “good” a more accurate assessment of its condition. Roughly 10 minor divots in the display, though not very noticeable when the display is illuminated, and less so with an anti-glare screen protector over it. Seemed to have some sort of stickiness around the lid and in the crevice around the trackpad. Bits of debris under some of the keys, though, the keys weren’t worn down at all like I was expecting. A big one was the battery health. Anything under 80%, I’d planned to return it. Luckily, it’s at 88%, which feels fair to me at the price point. Though, the lack of a MagSafe cable is a bit of a drag. Last issue. Small gashes/gouges around the edges of the lid, and some light scratches on the outer bottom of the body. If you can live with some cosmetic imperfections, this is well worth the money over buying new. P.S., it was labeled as being “Silver,” but it’s Space Gray.

Amazon Renewed does it again!
Worth trying to get a renewed product thru Amazon. Got this and Apple Watch Ultra and blown away by the price and the quality. Even if it didn’t arrive as advertised, the 90 day return policy is awesome.
