Don't over-tighten the screws!
As a previous review wrote:Previous reviewers mentioned the metal ring popped off -- that happened to me at first if you tighten the screws too much. Behind the visible metal is a layer of foam that gets compressed by the screws to form a seal against the tub. If you compress the foam too much, then the mechanism is too shallow for the chrome ring and faceplate to grip the clips. So if your metal ring and plates are popping off, go loosen the screws. After I did that, mine fits perfectly and the metal ring doesn't pop out. This is exactly the case! Don't tighten the screws too tight (just enough to hold it from spinning seems fine) and this works great. Also, make sure you align it correctly (turn to fully open, then put the opening towards the bottom of the tub) before screwing into the tub.Instructions are a PDF linked in another review. No instructions came with my box.

Not universal
I had high hopes for this. Been looking for something that closed off the tub overflow for 25 years so I can fill my tub as much as possible. I was so excited when I came across this on Amazon and even more exciteder when it arrived. Very high quality feel. All the exposed parts that you touch are metal and high quality finish. Hardware is quality bur free stainless steel. Gasket is thick and should should confirm to irregularities. However, and this is my one star deduction. IT IS NOT UNIVERSAL. You should have seen the look of disappointment and despair when I went to install it and the mounting holes didn’t align. A good 1/4” off. WHAAAA!!!! Sadly ima gonna halfta send this back. When they make this with elongated mounting holes so it truly is universal then I will buy agin.

Quick, easy installation and then full baths forever!
Super easy to install, even with instructions. Just unscrew the old overflow cover and any additonal attachements, cover the hole with this faceplate and screw in one side at a time while moving the revolving interior plate to expose the screw holes. Just make sure that you place the plate on correctly so that the large overflow hole is at the bottome... I messed up the first time and had to redo it, but it was an easy fix.Start to finish was less than 10 minutes and I only had to use 1 screwdriver. Then I treated myself to an extremely full bath! The final result looks classy and it works incredibly well without leaking. 10 stars for this overflow cover!

What a piece of junk.
Bought this for a job that was going to be completed by contractors. The job was delayed which moved me out of my return window, more is the pity. Contractors installed it per instructions. I turned the ring (which isn't supposed to come off.) It came off in my hand. The o-ring bunched up in the groove. The guts were all plastic.I figured that I had just done something wrong (even though I'm an engineering minded guy.) I let one of the contractors try to fix it. The first one had a degree in mechanical engineering, but decided he liked working with his hands and so became a construction contractor. He spent 30 minutes on it trying to get it to go together and operate the way the instructions said. According to him, there were no broken pieces, no tabs or locators broken off. It looks great if you just put it all together and don't touch it. If you touch it, the whole thing comes apart in your hands.I had hoped to gift this feature to my wife for moving into our new house. Instead I'm out the money, and my blood pressure is higher. BTW, Westbrass is a complete misnomer. There is no "brass" in this thing. What piece of junk.

Good product.
Truth be told I bought this for its appearance as much as for its function – I liked the lack of exposed screws. Though frankly I worry that the option to close off the overflow completely is a recipe for flooding. Here are the bullet points:- Very fast and easy to install.- No installation instructions were included with the product I received.- Installation instructions can be found at https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/91Llk7iV0fL.pdf- Reviewers have complained of accidental breakage. To prevent this read the instructions carefully prior to attempting to disassemble or install!!! Note that three parts have the warning, “please do not separate” – so do not attempt to separate them.- The metal handle assembly ring and metal nameplate need to be aligned correctly for it to work.- External parts are chromed metal; internal parts are plastic.- Screws are hidden behind round trim piece.- Doesn’t require plumber’s putty or teflon tape to install; comes with its own gasket.- Does what it’s supposed to as far as allowing the tub to be “overfilled.”- The chrome version I received does NOT have the manufacturer’s name across the front; just three circular symbols indicating tub fill options.

Grandma and 9 yr old grandson installed it!
Proud to say I was able to install this thing. My grandson wanted to help, so he actually did the installation with me telling him what to do. The faceplate is pretty, and I do not hear ANY gurgles of water escaping with a full tub.My previous overflow had a lever to operate a drain plug (to keep water in tub... that one) I never could get it to work, so I was happy to remove it and just use a cheap white rubber plug (which works perfectly). BIG BONUS with this new over flow, no lever in the back of person at that end of the tub. Its a big tub :)

Do not overtighen
No instructions but you can go to the Internet and look at vids. Pot metal outer ring and face plate. Foam bushing/plastic plate is secured to the overflow opening. A rotating plastic plate is attached to the bushing plate. As others noted, do not overtighten bushing/plastic/plate. I used silicon grease on the foam side of the bushing that rests on the tub wall. So far it is working as expected.
