Great Looking Guard... Just Be Sure To Remove BOTH Layers Of The Plastic Film!
To be fair, I haven't yet installed the pickguard, and this initial review is limited in scope to the general appearance and apparent quality of the item. It looks really nice, and the "loaded" components don't involve too much "bulk", so that it's more likely to fit my guitar (a Squier Affinity Strat) comfortably. NOTE: there are two distinct layers of plastic film which both need to be peeled away from the face of the pickguard. Don't be alarmed if initially you see scratches or abrasions on the guard-- chances are (as in my case) those are limited to the protective plastic, and the actual surface of the guard will be just fine!

Outstanding for the price
I used this for a B&W VH project guitar. It fit into a Badcat DIY HSS Strat kit after some very minor pup cavity sculpting (which the pickguard hides anyway, so I didn't have to be surgical about it). Make sure your soldering job is good and add full shielding. I did swap the black volume knob for a white tone knob. I can't speak for the pot and wiring since I swapped those out, but I can say the pickup and pickguard are outstanding quality for this price. The pickup is HOT. The multimeter has it bouncing around the mid 15's. I need the volume rolled down to 7 (and even as low as 3 sometimes). I was eventually going to get a SD '78 pup for this guitar, but honestly with proper Katana brown settings it already sounds darn close to the legend. The only thing missing is skill, technique and decades of practice, Lol. I would definitely buy this again if I had a similar project. No regrets at all.

It is shockingly good for the money.
I am a lefty and everyone I know is right handed so picked up this a badly abused Squire to fix up as a "guest guitar." Since I wanted to have the option to noodle around too (and I didn't want to deal with switches) I decided to go with a single humbucker set up and this was the first and best option that I found. I figured that I can't go wrong for 20 bucks but when I saw that there was a refurbished option for $15.00 I knew I just had to jump on it.I spent a few days cleaning up and repainting the guitar while I waited for this thing to arrive. A few days later I was able to install it -which was a synch. When I plugged it into my little amp I was met with a very pleasant surprise. This thing actually sounded great. Let's be clear- this guitar is an "extra guitar" that I wanted to look good in a room, and be something that folks could comfortably pick up and play if the wanted to. It will likely end up in my office and get kicked around quite a bit but like I said- for $15 to $20 bucks I can't see how you could go wrong!

Blew my mind how good this is for $20
Pickup sounds awesome. Its very punchy and hot sounding, good for metal. The pickguard holes didnt line up but i kind of expected that. Installed in an old Arbor strat copy. Definitely worth the money.

Volume Pot was lousy - lots of cutting out and crackling
Building a frankenstrat clone. Guitar was originally a Glarry with 3 single coil pickups. Ordered this mainly for the pickguard configuration - but figured what the heck, maybe the humbucker will sound just fine. And it did. The humbucker itself sounds decent, but there was a ton of crackling and cutting out. After investigating, the volume pot was completely falling apart. Had to swap out the volume pot with one of the ones that came with the original Glarry.

Just needed some breaking in
Volume pot was pretty scratchy even after working it back and forth for a while. Used some pot cleaner/lubes. Sound is great for the money, but definitely not high quality pots which is to be expected at the price point. The wiring however was good and the wires themselves of a decent guage (20-22?). Used for a EVHish partscaster for my son and turned out pretty nice.Update: So after a week or so of playing this lil setup has turned into a real monster. While I wouldnt say it's better than a $300 loaded pickguard, it's far better for the money than one would ever expect. I've never known pickups to have a breaking in period but perhaps they do. Regardless buy this for playing the hard stuff and you'll never regret it.

Great!
I now have three of these installed in my Strat builds.I love the pickups: Hot, punchy, and just really awesome sounding. They are certainly lively and complement my other builds sitting in my daily player rack quite nicely. So, glad I found these!
