My Vietnamese friend says this book has been very helpful!!!

This is a good dictionary to translate Vietnamese words to English. Please note that the dictionary is alphabetized in Vietnamese. So there is no easy way to look up in reverse of an English word to know the Vietnamese word. This dictionary will help you if you know a lot of Vietnamese and want to translate certain words into English. The book is 9" x 6" x 5/8". It's not too big nor really compact but still easy to take around.

I love this ebook version. I bought the English-Vietnamese Tuttle on Google Play. I prefer the Amazon version better because I can copy the definitions and paste them. On Google play, I can only take a picture of the definition which makes it cumbersome. I’m learning other languages (Spanish & French) too. So I might consider Amazon kindle as a better source for textbooks/reference books. But I love the convenience of Google Translate App. The dictionary book is better than the app in that it’s more complete and thorough. There are more related words. The book is irreplaceable in that sense.

I just started learning Vietnamese and much to my surprise, this book has become indispensable when I want to check in a word between classes. Often, I just need to verify if I copied the accents down correctly in class. But, then I start looking at other words and my knowledge grows.

I'm currently trying to brush up on my Vietnamese language skills for a return trip to Vietnam after 47 years. This newly published dictionary and its twin English-Vietnamese have been essential life savers to make my study easier and more enjoyable. Don't hesitate. You won't be disappointed.

I got this to translate some Vietnamese Buddhist sutras. As some sutras contain some ancient language, not everything was in this book but there was enough to understand with context clues. I wish that I had got this first.

Sehr schön übersichtliches Wörterbuch. Im Vergleich zu den kompakten Versionen ist es viel angenehmer zum Nachschlagen. Die Wörter werden in blau dargestellt, nicht mehr in grau, so wie in älteren Auflagen. An der Papier-/Druckqualität ist nichts zu bemängeln. Die Einträge wurden erst 2016 überarbeitet und sind zeitgerecht. Das Einzige, das mich stört ist, dass manche Einträge leider keinen Querverweis auf Synonyme haben. (Bsp.: Trung Quốc und Nước Tàu). Trotzdem würde ich dieses Wörterbuch auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

非常に説明が簡潔明瞭で、日本の辞書みたいに要らない付録等が色々付いていることが無いのがとてもいいです。

At the front of the dictionary there is a section that contains a pronunciation and tonal guideline. The book has clear definitions.

Very clear print, easy to use

収録語数は19000。決して多いというわけではありませんが、今までの中で一番まともなベトナム語の辞書です。熟語の数もそこそこ入っていますし、気まぐれに収録されている例文もわかりやすい。印刷もまともですので、読みやすいです。少なくともベトナム語をまじめに勉強する人はある程度英語がはなせると思うので、ベトナム語→日本語のものよりは使いやすいと思います。なお、Anh->Vietはついていません。Viet->Anhのみです。
