Great book with beautiful short melodies for the intermediate-advance pianist
Great book with beautiful short melodies for the intermediate-advance pianist. Some pieces I was able to play right away while others demand a little bit more time to practice. I love when pieces have a story to tell with a beautiful well structure melody and this book delivered.

I prefer a different edition of this album
This is nice album of Tchaikowksy's Opus 39, but I prefer the Schirmer Library edition instead (edited by Ruthardt). In this Alfred Masterworks edition, the music is spread out so that, for example, No.1 takes up a page and a half, instead of just a page (in the Schirmer edition). Similarly, the Waltz (#8) requires two page turns, versus one page turn in the Schirmer edition. So far as I can tell, the music is the same in both editions, but some fingering is different.

Does have fingerings. I am going through college as a music major and got this to practice my sight-reading. The songs are lovely in my opinion, and not too difficult for "young" people.

Great edition of this composer's work
Excellent edition - the editor has kept true to Tchaikovsky's style and intent. Fingering, dynamics, all notation is perfect - andAlfred editions can't be beat!

Three Stars
There are better books out there - the print quality is sub-par in my opinion.

The editions are fine but there are better editions out there
This edition is more difficult than others because the editor breaks apart some pieces into several pages which makes it more difficult to play. The editions are fine but there are better editions out there.

Bad print job.
Good content but the print job sucks. A lot of markings are barely visible. Crazy.

Clear and readable edition
Nice clear print and a good introduction. Interestingly although some of these are quite straightforward others have quite fiendish rhythms and speeds. I had come across a few of the items in anthologies before, which is why I decided to buy the complete book.
