After trying many other hair and root touch up colors, Madison Reed is by far the best. It lasts longer. It is gentle and doesn't make my hair fall out. The color is rich and there is no awful ammonia or sodium hydroxide smell at all.

I’ve tried countless hair dyes over the years, but Madison Reed’s 5NNN shade is hands-down the best at-home color I’ve ever used. I have naturally dark brown hair with a fair amount of stubborn gray, and I wanted a deep, neutral tone with full coverage — this delivered perfectly. The application process was smooth and user-friendly, with clear instructions and thoughtful extras like gloves, barrier cream, and a cleansing wipe. What really stood out was the lack of harsh chemical smell — no eye-watering ammonia here! Shade 5NNN gave me a rich, even, darkest neutral brown tone that didn’t skew red or ashy — just a pure, deep brunette. It covered every gray strand completely and left my hair looking dimensional, not flat or “boxy.” Even better, my hair felt softer and healthier afterward than it did before coloring

If you don't like to waste space or products, then you will like this root touch up. It contains 2 for a quick touch up before a shower. The ingredients are good and the color is great. Don't be discouraged by the price as you are getting two colors to use on two separate instances. Very economical. And I appreciate that. I was using a root touch up from a different brand but prefer this one because of the quality products it has inside the box. You get a brush and a bowl and everything is placed in the box carefully. It feels like a salon touch up versus you just doing it at home.

Having it come with everything I need - gloves, bowl, brush, easy-to-read/understand instructions - made it so simple! And the add'l. 5 minutes it said to keep on for "resistant gray" DEFINITELY worked. Working 2 jobs keeps me schedule really tight, so having this kit come with 2 applications is PERFECT. The only reasons I gave it 4-stars is because the conditioner's 2nd ingredient was alcohol & because I need to see how long the color lasts. Otherwise, I'm buying another kit for myself and my daughter! Great product! PS - beautiful shine.

I usually use Dp Hue root touch up. I saw that I would receive this one faster AND it only needed to sit for 10 minutes. I was hoping I could make the permanent switch since Dp Hue needs to stay in your hair for 45 minutes. I applied to my hair. I part my hair adding dye to each small section. I start on the side of my head that has more grays and work my way to the other side. By the time I finished, it had probably already been in the bad side for 15 - 20 minutes. I had some left over so went over the bad side again. I then set a 10 minute timer, slightly concerned that it had been in my hair for too long as it was. Washed as usual. Once my hair dried, I looked in the mirror and all the small pieces around my face are still completely gray. My scalp still has tints of dye but the hair didn’t pick up the color. I will be going back to Dp Hue.

Great product especially for hard to color grey hair. I use the touch up in between for root coverage.
