The Smallness of Everything Else

Devilishly Accurate Portrayal of Love and Heartbreak
The smallness of everything else is a perfect tribute to the feelings associated with the heart breaking, but more importantly the heart healing as well. We have all felt the “vial of poison” regardless if you would like to admit it. However, this book is not about how the vial kills you, but about how you rise from the ashes and are reborn stronger than before. For those who have had their hearts broken, manipulated, questioned, or just enjoy truly well written poetry; do yourself a favor and read this book.

Vivid sensory ride
I loved all the fantasy elements in this and the vivid sensory ride from poem to poem. I don’t usually read poetry—it’s been hard for me to find work that I identify with or comprehend—but A.H. Lewis really sucked me in with her beautiful and heartbreaking words. She also taught me that if you don’t like poetry, you just haven’t found the right poems yet. So thank you for writing poems I like ;) Very strong debut. Can’t wait to read her next work!

Phenomenal
Amazing content! Ally recaptured the meaning of a beautiful tragedy. Her words resonated with me and narrated feelings I could never find within myself. I felt validated and heard just by knowing she has felt the same way I do. Definitely one to have on your bookshelf or coffee table!

personal & reflective
Lewis' book is personal and reflective. At times, a lamentation; at times, an ode, but not nearly that dichotomous. Her book is an underwater realm, a floating jellyfish, a hot air balloon in full flight, rocks that skip along a pond. It's an epistolary longing: the reimagining of self and love post-loss.

"But then the pictures stop."
This collection is so many different things. Above all of them, it is intensely honest. A.H. Lewis mixes both haunting and lovely realities... threading them together seamlessly with her writing ability.Get this book if you enjoy reading poetry that cuts beautifully. Poetry that you learn from. Poetry that gives you goosebumps within the first three pages.
