Looks, build quality, sound, and great value.

First, I love the design. The gray cloth-covered microphone makes it feel premium and professional but playful at the same time. I will certainly be using it in the office and displaying it proudly. The controls look great in black and make a nice contrast. Even the stand, I find it fairly minimalist and the branding subtle. Just in case you want it on a boom arm, it’s rather easy to mount. I will say that the plug-like holder on the bottom to keep the mic on the stand is incredibly difficult to install, but once it’s in it’s no problem.Second, being plug-and-play, it’s super simple to set up. The gain control knob works well, although I wish it had a hard stop on high or low volume. This knob also mutes the mic, but I did notice that it is kind of loud and can be heard sometimes. The other knob underneath switches between pattern modes: cardioid where one talks to it directly and Omni, where the mic picks up from all sides. Thankfully, there is a 3.5mm headphone monitor jack. I appreciate the little LED that tells the volume mode and when mute is active. All that is great. But what makes this mic stand out is the recording quality. We’re talking 96kHZ/24bit, and it shows. The sound is full and natural, and there is little to no sibilance. I was able to effectively record with the microphone at about 18 inches with 75% gain on the PC and mic. While this feels natural, I noticed that it picked up a bit of noise. At about 8-10 inches and 50% gain, recordings are clearer and there is less noise pick-up. Unfortunately, there is some popping (p’s and b’s are emphasized), so be mindful of that. It’s not a big deal, but a better pop filter solution would’ve been nice. The Omni mode is great for meetings and online conferences, or a round-table podcast. However, it picks up a lot of ambient sounds, such as keyboards. For the asking price, this is an amazing deal. It’s hard to think of this to be a “budget” item since the quality in design, construction, and sound is so high. It’s an easy recommendation.

Nice crisp sound for a budget price

This USB mic coming in for about half the price of more popular models immediately piqued my interest. I have been using a Rode NT Mini for close to 2 years now and have really loved that mic. The JLab Go is a great alternative where you might be willing to cut some corners in exchange for a lower price. My first piece of note is that it definitely needs a pop filter, since without it it's very "tinny" and picks up a lot of the sharpness of sounds you may not otherwise want. For my temporary solution since I'm cheap, I just put a sock over the top of the mic and it's worked well enough to cut out the top of those sharp sounds. My next bit of criticism comes in the supplied stand. The microphone itself is very light and easy to handle. However, this does have a drawback of making it very prone to cords pulling it this way and that while attached to its provided stand. Though it does come with a rubber locking plug, mine doesn't fit and even with the microphone out of the stand it fails to line up flush, which is a bummer. I use mine in a mic boom arm so that's not an issue for me anymore, but when I want to use it on its own I have to be very careful not to bump it or the cord.Otherwise, the sound quality is really good and leagues better than any built-in laptop, phone, or other cheap "gaming" mic you might come across, so I only doc 1 star for the things I mentioned and would say this stacks up nicely to my Rode. I have also used a Yeti Snowball mic at my work office a number of times and would say this one is comparable to that in quality, though the Yeti just slightly edges it out sound-wise.Lastly, I do have to give props to the sleek build and overall look of the JLab; it's really a nice and fetching piece of equipment and I am proud to have it at my desk.

Recording clearly

I am quite happy with the recent products that Jlab has been putting out. They're not a small brand at all but they're not as well known for some reason and I really hope they start to get the recognition they deserve as of late. All the products I've used from them lately have been top notch. Earbuds, webcams, microphones, etc. Enough "fan-girling" though. This microphone works exceptionally well and sounds great. For the price I think its a really great choice. I have another microphone I'm replacing with this one and the Jlab one sounds much better. I especially like the material and build of the mic too. The fabric cover looks great and the microphone seems pretty well built and solid. The stand doesn't wobble either and looks good.Overall this microphone works really well and I am very happy with it. It sounds great, looks great, and seems quality built. 10/10 rating!!
