OTC 7703 Basic Slide Hammer Assembly - 10 lb. Hammer

The slide hammer that shipped with my OTC puller was not up to the task. This pulled the 200K mile bearing out with ease.

Helped me remove infamous, passenger side cv axle from 2007 Lexus is250. The size of the slide hammer matters. This made a huge difference compared to the 5 pound slide hammer I rented from the auto store. It literally took me 4 pulls versus the hundred or so I tried with the 5 pound. I also soaked the inner bearing with penetrating oil for a few days which probably helped too, but this slide hammer was the difference I'm sure.

I bought the OTC 7703 Slide Hammer to deal with a CV axle that was completely stuck, and this thing did exactly what I needed. The 10-lb hammer has plenty of weight behind it, and you can really feel the force it delivers with each pull. It gave me enough leverage and impact to break the axle loose without having to beat on anything with a regular hammer or risk damaging other parts. The build quality feels solid and well-made, and the threads connected tightly with no wiggle or flex. Even after several hard pulls, nothing loosened up or felt cheap. It’s a straightforward tool, but it works extremely well and made the job way easier than I expected. If you’re dealing with a stubborn axle or anything seized that needs a strong pull, this slide hammer is definitely worth having.

Makes hard pulls easy, impossible pulls possible. Nicely made and has a corrosion resistant coating. The hammer is vinyl coated or something so is comfortable to grip. Took only a couple whacks to remove some tough axle bearings that didn't want to come out with the lighter rented slide hammer. Unlike some other cheaper options, this one has a normal 5/8-18 thread that will accept standard puller accessories.

I literally just recieved this yesterday and already have replaced rear axel bearings, front wheel hubs and pulled a dent out with ease. I'm not exaggerating when I say it makes it easier to work with and it's constructed well. The cost for more me was worth it alone, but I hope in the future they will offer an accessory kit with it

great service from america. arrived in England 3 days from ordering, a garage totally wrecked all our wheel bearings, suspension wishbones, wheel sensors, and new driveshafts. so we decided to order this with the hammer extension and joint fork adaptor for next time. it's a sturdy piece of kit and the adaptor fits nicely on a ford Mondeo driveshaft. very happy with the purchase, and it was fun watching it travel from the USA to England, best delivery i have ever seen, and highly recommend this as a addition for the home mechanic.

This tool is great. Knock named "Black Betty" in my shop, is sometimes a get out of jail free card. Solid shank design won't bent or break like a lot of other large slide hammers. The only reason it doesn't get a 5 star rating is the little cross pin they is knurled fit in the end of the tool always falls out. I think that is a design flaw. I'd like to see it tack welded in place. Once I welded mine, I have been very happy with its performance.

Quit playing nice with those seized hubs. This slide hammer is heavy but saves your wrists from the horrible jarring when pounding a five pound slide. Let the tool do the work.

Excellent tool , its my number 1 money maker in my home shop for removing hub bearings . The 10 pound hammer jack on help remove most bearing within the 3rd hit ...

Bought this to do wheel bearings on my mid size SUV. The 5 pounder one i have took FOREVER to get the hub out of the wheel bearings. This bad boy made short work of it, maybe 3 or 4 good yanks and it was out. Fits the adapters in the 5lb OTC kit I already had. Definitely worth the money over a 5 lb if you do more heavy duty automotive stuff.

I couldnt get a Jeep hub off with my 5 lb hammer. This 10 pounder took it off in 4 hits. Awesome.

Whenever i need to remove wheel hub-bearing assemblies, i always reach for this 10pds slide hammer. It’s the only way to defeat heavy rust and corrosion. The 5 pds hammer isn’t up to the task when dealing with older vehicles affected by road salt used in winter for de-icing roads. This 10 pds will be compatible with all kits available on the market. *Update: May 1st 2024, another super-extra-corroded Toyota Yaris rear hub-bearing got defeated. Its so powerful that it came with the drum brake backing plate. 3 pulls only were necessary. This tool gives me the edge on rusted beyond belief parts.*
