I've been using Castrol EDGE 5W-40 Engine Oil for my car, and it has performed exceptionally well. Castro’s Edge 5W/40 isn’t BMW LL04 Spec. But is fine if no OPF Fitted.
BMW have changed the testing standard on new engines with OPF (Otto Particulate Filter) on. A max ash content of .5% is allowed but Castro’s is .8% It was LL04 until recently. The oil hasn’t changed and I think is still ok up to 2018 cars. Superb Quality Oil you can rely on! I use it in my BMW 330ci Petrol which states mainly 5/30 oil but this is also listed and as it’s a 40 grade is thicker when warm so an engine like mine with 130,000 on is just perfect with this oil to protect your motor. Don’t play God buying Bill & Bens dodgey oil. It just ain’t worth it. Use premium Oil ALL THE TIME if you care for your car. Carry on! Castro’s oils with an M after the spec meet the new later ash level of .5%

quality what can i say
Only thing i will say is be careful to pick correct oil for your vehicle just because its got 5/40w on the bottle does not mean it meets specs. But best oil on market i don't like mobile one but that's personal.
