To start, I should say I impulse bought this at 3AM to use as a coping mechanism for mental illness. For this, it does really well.The picks are pretty good. They feel strong and only bend if you really put your strength in to them, which you shouldn't do anyway. The tension wrenches are extremely strong, although I've found them slipping out of locks if I push too hard. Again, probably because I put too much pressure on it.The actual locks are very different. The practice lock is useful, gives you a nice feel for what you're doing and teaches you what you should be doing. The real lock, however, is a completely different story. I only managed to unlock it once and that was ten minutes after this kit was delivered. It's a nice enough lock and could definitely be used as an ordinary padlock for locking something up as it comes with three keys.After barely a minute of playing with the blue lock I had it open. It's a lot easier than I thought, but that's good. Real locks are a lot harder, but you still feel like you're doing well. I actually had my dad give me some locks he'd lost the keys for and those are proving a real challenge.PROS:-Comes with a varied selection of picks and tension wrenches-TWO LOCKS! That's what brought me to this, I love a challenge and they're both really nice.-High quality metals overall, not a lot of bending and none of them have broken, even under my heavy hands.-The Practice lock comes in a swish looking case-Definitely helps if you suffer from a mental illness and need something to take your mind off it.-Everyone wants a go; My sister and dad both wanted a go and they both couldn't get it. I know it's cliche, but it really is fun for all the family.CONS:-The really long tension wrench slips from my fingers, although that might be because my fingers are stupidly big.-Easy to get confused if you don't know what you're doing. Both dad and sister gave up, but that's probably just them.OVERALL: A fantastic way of taking your mind off the world for ten minutes while teaching you a useful skill should you want to pursue a career in being a locksmith.I haven't regretted buying this. It's a cool trinket and helps when things get a bit unbearable.

On first appearance this looks like a "cracking" buy, with reasonable quality locks and picks. It took me less than 10 minutes to master the transparent training padlock and moving on to the brass padlock supplied also proved pretty easy. Within 20 minutes of practice I could open both locks in seconds. Bravo...I thought!I then went and tried to pick an off the shelf master padlock, this proved impossible as the tumblers do not stay set even when torque is applied to the lock mechanism. As soon as you lift one and move on to the next the initial tumbler drops back down making it impossible to crack the lock at all.A novelty buy really then, but good fun impressing my mates with the locks supplied.An update... I specifically bought this kit to pick a door lock on my meter cupboard due to me losing the key. Well, last night I had a go at it, not really thinking I'd be successful due to the earlier failure on the master padlock. Well, after a couple of minutes fiddling with a selection of the tools supplied, hey presto, I opened it! I have also tried a standard brass padlock I have at home and that took less than a minute to crack open. Therefore I'm now obliged to give this kit 5 stars! Saved me dusting my drill off, that's for sure!

This is a great little kit. The set is fundamentally available from different suppliers in slightly different forms but speaking for this set, it's good quality. The practice lock is a real nice touch, sturdy and not too heavy which helps. It took about 40 minutes to start with struggling with the practice lock until I did some more research. The 'weirdest pin' is in fact the tightest pin. The one which resists most is the one you want to tackle first. Following that you tackle the next tightest and so on. Another key lesson for me is to be super delicate. I thought the torsion bar was to apply pressure - it isn't, it's only to gently lean so the lock can click to the next open slot. Very gentle lean. I opened the practice lock and can now open it in about 10 seconds. I've only opened the real lock once (super satisfying) and I've only had the set for one afternoon - so I think that attests to it's quality. Only one slight complaint, the real lock is very cheap. It's not brass, it's painted gold. After a lot of tinkering you do get left with silvery/grey marks all over you hands. Not a big issue though. (Attached, my first open!)

Interesting pick set. I've not used one before so have nothing to compare to. Instructions are bereft of detail and you need to view a popular video social media site to gain better instructions. For some reason, the plastic lock seems easy to rake and inspired by the confidence that this brought on, I tried other locks. No luck. I did learn that the pressure on the lever needs to be very gentle rather than an aggressive turn for the tumblers to not stick. I am happy with the product because it was never intended to be a professional kit for lock smiths but rather a practice set to get the basic techniques honed. I do think with more practice it will all "click" into place and I can move onto more challenging locks and professional kits. I am satisfied that these will last years - again, they are practicing picks and not subjected to constant use. Overall I give 4 stars as it is what I wanted. I drop one star for the poor instructions.

Fast delivery and great price, mastered the training lock in good time, but the real one is a challenge. The nice change to this is I had a follow up email from WizLocks, asking how things were going. That is great service in my view and they get 11 out of 10 for that. The only reason I docked a star is there is a little sheet on how to pick the training lock, but no information on what the different picks are for, and how to use them. It is a little overwhelming. Other than that, I'm thoroughly pleased with what I've bought.
