The vital ingredient here is NovaMin. If it isn't powered by NovaMin, then you've not got the real deal. NovaMin is a bioactive glass compound invented in the 1960s for the purpose of bone regeneration for troops wounded in combat. It was later adapted into dental applications and has emerged as the primary treatment modality for the remineralization of the tooth. The NovaMin technology forms a tooth-like layer over exposed dentine which is approximately 50% harder than healthy dentine helping to continually repair and protect with twice daily brushing. Once exposed to water or saliva, NovaMin releases calcium and phosphate ions, the building blocks for teeth that are naturally attracted to exposed dentine. These ions bind themselves to the collagen in the exposed dentine, and from first use, begin to form a protective mineral layer that mimics the tooth’s natural make-up. Sensodyne Repair & Protect (Powered by NovaMin) does its job. For those who live in the UK, you can easily purchase this toothpaste at Tesco and other places, as well as have it shipped to you from the Amazon marketplace. While Sensodyne toothpaste is available in the USA, the NovaMin formula is not so it gets very pricey when having to source product from either Canada or the UK. Flouride toothpaste didn't work for me. Colgate's sensitive formula and others didn't work for me. Only Sensodyne Powered by NovaMin works for me. And, because it does, it's worth whatever it costs.

Bought for someone in the family with sensitive teeth issues. Good to brush with this at least twice each day to keep sensitivity to the minimum and also the maintain the quality of teeth. She finds it safe to use and prefers to use it everyday. Does not like the taste that much.

I was recommended this toothpaste by my dentist to help with pain in sensitive teeth. I can feel that it has helped a bit, but not enough to make me eat ice cold foods such as ice cream and anything else that would be a shock to sensitive teeth. I will keep using it however as it does make your teeth feel fresh for pretty much all of the day and the taste is pretty good

So it seems to do as it says on the tin. Previously I was suffering from pain (cold, hot and sugar triggered) on some teeth and slight transparency on some others. Now this product is not a replacement for seeing your dentist. Do not buy this for an issue without first getting it checked by your dentist! All that being said after maybe half a week I noticed improvements. The transparency has reduced significantly over that time and and pain is almost entirely gone. The paste itself isn't the nicest to use, it has a somewhat clumpy appearance and it's very easy to accidently squeeze too much onto the brush which means you then have a frothing minty mouth. This isn't helped by the 'extra fresh' type. Usually the minty flavour is subdued but one error in squeezing and you will feel it. After brushing your teeth feel smooth and somewhat coated with something (one assumes their magical repair formula) even after rinsing. The taste or texture isn't too offensive but it is new if you have not tried products like this before.

This toothpaste really works in helping teeth remain healthy. I started using this at the recommendation of my dentist about 10 months ago. I have really seen my tooth sensitivity go down and even my dentist visits reduced. This really works! PS: Amazon gives a great price, as compared to high street shops.

For those looking for an SLS free toothpaste, ignore the ingredients listed in the description the 'Repair and Protect extra fresh' does not match them. Included a photo with the actual ingredient list. Overall a very nice product - good taste, cleans well, helps with sensitivity.

Have used this toothpaste before and effective at relieving discomfort of sensitive teeth . Definitely value for money

I have only just realised I ordered Repair and Protect and got Pronamel hence the lower score and this review. I don't know whether what I got is better or worse than what I ordered but that isn't really the point. What I've read makes it sound as if I got the worst of the deal but who knows. Having been using it for a few weeks now I'm not in a position to send it back. So my advice to you is, don't take it for granted you will get what you ordered.
