Programmable.
Bought one of these Varilight V Pro series before to control my LED chandelier lights. At that time my only issue was the delay it took for the lights to come on and so I adjusted brightness up when suddenly the lights 'fired up' to the new High brightness setting (cured now see below). In addition to the perceived delay my chandelier lights needed a minimum level of brightness (power) to prevent the occasional flicker. My wife never noticed the occasional flicker but maybe I'm sensitive to these things! When I bought this item again I found out it can be programmed to set the minimum brightness which I did and now NO flicker as it remembers the low setting but still gives further range of adjustment to full. With the optimum low level of brightness set I now push button to on and wait as it guarantees the minimum brightness that I programmed in.The second dimmer I recently bought for X2 wall lamps. The chandelier and wall lamps are brass and I needed matching wall switches but LED dimming ones in brass were difficult to find. I bought standard light dimmers in brass and changed the dimmer circuit in them to these Varilight Pro types. Both are programmed correctly and there is no longer any flicker as they are optimised for LEDs and can be programmed for different operating modes and I've also preset the minimum brightness.

Nice LED compatible dimmer switch
Works nicely controlling a mixture of LED and incandescent bulbs (I'm slowly converting my light fittings to LEDs as the remaining few incandescent go). Has good low brightness level without any flicker at all and a fairly linear control up to full brightness. Was easy to fit to replace the previous non-LED compatible dimmer switch. The re-calibration procedure when changing bulbs is nice and easy.

good product - definitely room for improvement
it worked well with both halogen and LED, it is good quality however, it can be quite tricky to program your dimmable functions. Not a problem, as there are various videos on youtube explaining how to do it (step by step). Their very small manual is not the best, as the instructions are not as clear as they wish they would be, but like i said "the youtube videos will show you how", even for an amateur DIY personThey don't dim all the way down either, even though i set up to dim to the lowest brightness and also to the highest brightness.

one broke after a few months, another has started making a buzzing sound
I got this dimmer switch as i thought it was simple and easy to configurethe config stuff works most of the time, sometimes it took me several days to correctly get it to adjustit would just not do what the instructions that came with it said it should be doing, i got other people to try it and no one could get it work, eventually i did get all the settings correct, and it worked well for a few months. then the problems started. sometimes it would click but not register the click, so it would go in and then out, but there was no click sound, and it didnt switch. this got worse and worse untill it was unusable. my other one is still working but has developed a very loud buzz when ever it is on, i hate it.

Sophisticated dimmer, but not consistent.
I bought this to control a recently fitted Phillips dimmable 'warm glow' light bulb, as the existing dimmer control - not surprisingly - caused it to flicker (LED lamps generally require a 'trailing-edge' dimmer).Does it work? Yes. Can it be 'programmed' for different levels and conditions? Yes.So, what's the problem? Only that it seems to forget the setting I programmed it to.To get it to work properly as a T-E dimmer for my LED light, it requires a bizarre sequence of 'on-and-off' presses of the switch at roughly one-second intervals. This took some getting uses to, but finally I got it to do what I wanted, and all appeared fine - full light level adjustment, a neat soft-start and no flicker. Then my daughter companied it wasn't working - it would only go to partial-full brightness. Yup - the light would only go to roughly half-brightness when 'full' on.Reprogrammed and all was well. Then it went wrong again.Reprogrammed, and all fine.Went wrong again.I'm still not sure what the heck is going on...

Works straight out of the box
This is very easy to install and seems to handle low power LED bulbs better than anything else I have come across; no buzzing and no flickering. I know that it's a very programmable piece of kit, but I have put in 5 so far and I have just taken the new dimer modules out of the box and wired the in. It seems to work.Maybe there are cheaper, simpler solutions, but I have not found them.

Ideal to use your original fixings when using led GU10 bulbs
Perfect, after trying some LED compatible dimmer units that were just awfuland didnt do the job , i used these and my original facings at 1/3 of the price. Perfect and programmable for dimness. Theres far more options for normal dimmer switches, buy some and replace the module with these for a fraction of the price, it took seconds to do.
