Ev-81 E-Violin Complete Set with Headphones

I really wanted to see if I could learn to play a violin and was looking for a good starter kit. I do play Bass guitar so although I am new to the Violin and the tuning I did have a good idea what to expect for my money and was pleasantly surprised with the EV-81. I am sure a more seasoned player could point to things on it that could be better but for anyone wishing to learn from scratch I can't see why they would wish to look futher than this instrument.You get a decent bow, rosin, OK strings, and four fine tuners - a must for the beginner. It also comes with a nice case. Headphones and mini to standard jack cable are provided but neither are of great quality although fine for practicing which is, after all, what most who will buy this violin will wish to do.It is certainly not a silent violin but it is relatively quiet compared to an acoustic one so I doubt you would irritate friends and family whilst you are learning so long as they were not in the same room as you. I found the tuning quite easy but it would go out of tune overnight for the first few days until the pegs seemed to bed in, then it seemed to settle down and has kept pretty well in tune since.It is of quite solid construction and for the price I paid I really doubt if I could have got a better instrument.I certainly don't think I have been fiddled with this purchase. (Sorry for that!)

Very well made electric violin.The intention of playing this silently was scuppered when I stroked the bow across the strings and a definite tone sang out for all to hear! Honestly, I don't know why there are people think electric violins are silent because they're not.I'm actually going to stick this up on ebay and just got for a proper acoustic violin as I may as well go for the proper thing if everyone is going to hear the electric one...3/5 because it's very well made but is nowhere near as silent as people made it out to be.

first class violin well made and is perfect for practice if you don't want to anoy anyone else.

Brilliant sound, lighter than expected and works well with my guitar amp. The battery was almost empty already when I go it, but I replaced it for a few quid, no problem. Impossible to use without a shoulder rest, but very easily holdable with.One big minus: the bow hair was easily an inch too long and the bow could hardly be used at all since tightening it to the point where the hair is taut, the wood is bent far beyond what should be. Worth getting another bow for it!!

Only 2 star as comes with no instructions so had to find tutorial online. Strings are very nasty, installed bridget with strings loosened and the tightened all strings but when got to last string just snapped before it even had hardly any tension in it. Dissapointed child on Xmas day as a result. Personally will order from elsewhere next time as can see most others will send violin tuned and set up ready to go where as this one looks like was just thrown together in case. Now have to wait untill after Xmas to visit local music store and upgrade strings and get them to set violin up.

Received on time and packed well. we haven't played it yet but it all looks good quality and well made, nice colour to the violin. All items included also look good. Will update when we get to play it.

Bought this for my daughter who lives in Cyprus. (An ordinary fiddle would suffer from the heat there, and probably fall apart.) She is very pleased with it.
