Top Notch Little Mixer
I bought this mixer to record cassette tapes and records on to my PC so my review is essentially to do with just that. The mixer's power supply comes via USB from the PC or you can use the USB adapter also supplied to use power from the mains socket. Well before I go on any further, this mixer works brilliantly. I connected my record turntable [Bush MTT1...it has a built in pre-amp... very necessary] to the phono inputs on the mixer marked "2-TRACK" and then connected the "MAIN MIX" phono outs to the line-in on the PC. I use Magix Audio Cleaning Lab software on the PC. The recordings are top quality.Recordings via the "LINE" input are also excellent... you can use the EQ if needed to good effect plus the Pan facility. I prefer the "2-TRACK" input as it bypasses the EQ.I have not used the Mic In with a phantom powered mic but can confirm that it is excellent with a dynamic mic... I use the Shure PG57.The XLR input also doubles as a 1/4" jack input too! The recordings are clean and clear and their is a very good low and high EQ with panning on this input. You have total control of volumes from all inputs which is basically what a mixer is all about. You can route your mix via head phones or the main mix. This unit is very well made and has a solid feel to it especially the XLR and phono inputs. The mixer has many uses and I can totally recommend it... it also takes up hardly any space on your already crowded desktop! As a footnote there is no way that I am parting company with my cassette or vinyl collection... it's simply fun to be able to copy them if needed for whatever purpose.

Very Good Value for Money
I needed to be able to transfer a gramophone record to a digital format for a friend who no longer has a record player. Unfortunately the record is long deleted from Decca's catalogue. I purchased this mixer and it worked like a charm. I paired it with Audacity which is a stunning piece of software. At first I could only record the sound from the laptop's built in microphone. Then I found the Recording Device option under the Audio Setup option on the top bar of the Audacity display. This gave me the record player but at low volume and then I noticed that the recording gain in Audacity is a slider superimposed on the recording level display and sliding this to about -6dB gave me a good clean sound. Audacity makes it easy to export FlAC or MP3 files etc. and even Microsoft WAV. Use the 2-track input on the Xenyx 302 and it bypasses the equaliser and other gain controls. It is powered off the USB port but comes with a power supply in a separate box which is where you will find the USB cord (standard USB not USB-c). All you will need then is and RCA stereo lead from your phono pre=amp. An excellent product which doesn't need any extra drivers.. My PC is running Windows 11 Pro.

Unbeatable bargain if you need a small desk and hate cables.
Great features for such a tiny and inexpensive mixer. Ideal for peole who want to cut down on cables as it's USB powered and also uses the USB data lines as an AUX in to play mp3 (this is switchable to the seperate input) so it replaces a bulky power adapter and a 3.5mm cable with a single USB. Add a bluetooth transmitter to the headphone jack and you can lose another cable too!It also functions as an audio interface, again over the same USB cable and comes with ok software which you'll want to ditch for Reaper straight away. Still nice to have for free though and a cheap way to get into recording.Bad points are:- The mic preamp isn't suited to a passive instrument and struggles with volume, so expect less clean volume than you would with a powered desk. The 5v pulled from your USB port isn't enough to get proper headroom and the XLR/1/4" jack on channel 1 is more suited to a mic than a guitar/bass, even using a USB mains adapter it doesn't draw enough power. Shame as modern USB ports can easily power this thing, it seems limited at 5v though.- No bluetooth built in. Would have been nice to have bluetooth integrated so you can use wireless headphones, seeing this setup is all about portability and convenience it would have been great to drop the headphone cable.Overall though it's a nice desk which does what it is designed to do. It's a tiny and extremely handy practice tool for me and it's been invaluable over the time I've had it (1yr plus). I need to learn large numbers of songs regularly and often don't have space or am away from home, just hook this thing up to my laptop and I have a fully featured practice tool.
